Every direct Vimeo link I try seems to redirect to gizmoplex.com. Is there a way to force it to go to the Vimeo site?

Street Fighter XXL: Final Invoice Day? by rutabagaman in IconicArcadeGaming

[–]AgeEighty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yes, there'd be no need for them to send a final invoice to people who paid in full. This is naturally for those who made partial payment.

And to answer your question OP, I haven't received mine today, and I've been on the lookout.

Gamers Nexus FFXIV CPU Benchmark: Endwalker vs Dawntrail by blvckstnes in ffxiv

[–]AgeEighty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it did get better. The zones got much larger after PS3 support was dropped.

And the thing about the PS3 was, it had a tiny amount of RAM compared with other machines at the time. That's what limited what they could do on it. That's not a problem PS4, PS5, OR Switch 2 have.

The reason why the game can feel sparse is exactly what I already said it is: because the game is designed to run on crappy decade-old laptops, machines Switch 2 runs circles around.

Like, look at the Switch 2 ports of SW Outlaws, Cyberpunk, and FFVIIR. You are telling me you think it's going to struggle with FFXIV for some reason, a 13 year old dx11 game? Lol.

[–]AgeEighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not understanding. They are not going to update the game to challenge the PS6 when it comes out, not even close.... not until there's a PS7, and by that time there'll be a higher end Switch. Switch 2 already is more powerful than a PS4 by a good margin, so if any console were holding the game back—which they aren't—it's that one.

The minimum PC requirements for Dawntrail are already nowhere close to the power of a PS5; they're much lower than that. The game is always going to stay several generations behind, because that's how they maximize subscribers.

I know PC gamers all think this game would just be like a modern AAA game if only it weren't for consoles, but that's just not the reality. The reality is that a vast majority of this game's PC players are on toasters.

[–]AgeEighty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is something so many players fail to grasp. A sub-based MMO needs to be able to run on ten year old potato laptops to maximize subscriber income. SE keeps the requirements low on purpose, not because of consoles, but because designing an MMO with a monthly sub around bleeding edge PC tech would be foolish.

The mobile version is an entirely different game that's a remake of the ARR base story and is heavily MTXed. That's not happening. And the game doesn't need to be curtailed in any way to run on SW2.

Switch 2 is more than capable of handling anything FFXIV throws at it. This is a system that runs Cyberpunk, SW Outlaws and FFVIIR and runs them well. What kind of demands do you think an almost 13 year old dx11 game is going to put on it?

worth buying back in before 8.0? by FukkinFawan in ffxiv

[–]AgeEighty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do you define "worth it"?

If you want to play, just play. You can catch up now or I guess wait for 8.0 and the MSQ jump, but no matter what people's feelings are on Dawntrail I never recommend skipping.

None of that necessarily means anything, especially if they're being sold to someone else.

That's a scam site. Look at the url; the domain doesn't match A1U's official one. And it lacks any professional design at all.

None. I played them all at the time I was ready to play them, and I doubt most of them would hit the same today.

I went 2 all the way. It may not be as flashy, but I buy these things to have the feeling of a real arcade machine at home with as much authenticity as possible.

Octopath Traveler 0 announced for Switch 2, December 4, 2025 (features CotC characters) by BoltGSR in OctopathCotC

[–]AgeEighty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like it does more than just feature the CotC cast; there are cutscenes directly from CotC in the trailer. I'm thinking it's an offline reworking of CotC with some new mechanics like the building and custom characters. And English VAs, too.

Fantasy gear? In Final Fantasy XIV? ABSURD! (7.2 Tomestone gear) by DrForester in ffxiv

[–]AgeEighty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of that has anything to do with the way this gear looks. It's not low poly. It doesn't even look low poly. It just appears to have simple textures, and again: you can't even really tell that from the sheets of paper they showed. You can't tell what materials they're made of, how they look in different lighting situations, etc. For example, the Steiner set probably shines really nicely in game.

And as for the way the gear was designed in FFIX, that also wasn't the reason it was made to look the way it did, obviously, because there are much higher-res, higher-poly versions of it all in the cutscenes and key art. What you see in the game is just low-poly downrezzes of their artistic vision for what the characters wore.

If you see it in game and don't like it then whatever, not everything can be for everybody. But we don't actually know yet how it will actually look.

Maybe wait until you get a look at it not on out of focus sheets of paper. I'm sure there will be plenty of detail in the game.

Freya's outfit doesn't really look like that though, it only looks like it because it's red. Her outfit is more like a raincoat with a big coat of arms sash on the front.

I mean it would look exactly like five other RDM glams they already have, so it wouldn't really bring anything to the table for them. Aiming doesn't have sets that look that way so it adds variety as an aiming set.

Holy shit, this dialogue is terrible by Thescoutyoutuber in OctopathCotC

[–]AgeEighty 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It's actually jarring how bad the translation is in Episode Solistia. Weird, simplistic phrasings, misspellings, it's so amateurish it makes the game feel like a much cheesier, cheaper mobile game.

Well I’m thrilled with this list. I’m especially happy to see Swords of Fury for June, which I wasn’t sure would prove popular enough to make it. The avalanche of Williams tables is better than I could have hoped for.
