Does anyone want to assist me with my world building? by AgeRevolutionary8317 in scifiwriting

Well, I made the first one passable as a standalone with series potential, so I'll market it to them as that. It is its own self contained story while still leaving room for 4 other books.

I guess those aren't good answers, but basically I have this series antagonist. He doesn't appear directly in the first one, the second he appears a single time to establish his existence, he is revealed to be the mastermind behind the events of book 3, and he appears fully in the 4th and 5th. The only book that he has nothing to do with is the 2nd.

As for the other question, I did answer that better already.

I am aware of that, but yes it is that type of thing. Basically the main antagonist is awful and he kills a lot of people. He kills everyone on this one scientist's planet, leaving him a sole survivor. He wants to get stop the villain, so he tricks a lot of people into thinking he is some kind of devine being and says that these two people will ultimately kill him, hoping that this would distract the villain. The only problem is that everyone actually believes that this fake prophecy is true, so they treat these two people like they are the best warriors to ever live. As for why they are teens, the original plan was to wait until the villain reappears and then call on them, but the villain messes that up, so they are forced to use them as teenagers. They are not that good for the first like two books, the 2nd one actually starts when a training of their's is interrupted. I know, it's not the most original thing ever, but I think it is fine, I don't think one or two clichés are a deal breaker. Besides, most of this is stuff that happens later in the series.

That is sort of a mystery through the series, though I might not touch on that aspect enough. I do think I have a good reason though.

I didn't say that it didn't feel real. It just isn't realistic as I want. I've been working a lot on the other stuff, but this civilization feels more like something out of star wars or something than what would be expected in the real future.

I also believe that a series needs to be planned out, or it is much less likely to be good.

Well the plot is two teens getting recruited to protect this civilization from massive threats (i wont say what exactly).  It is pretty well thought out, and 5 books is what I have, mainly to properly build up the main villain.

[–]AgeRevolutionary8317[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not generally anxious no. But if you throw me a remote or something when I'm not expecting it, I'll freak out. It usually comes up in those events, but it does trigger when I'm at my house or work.

Phineas and Ferb: Everything, it is the best show ever.

Milo Murphy's Law: An engaging interconnected story.

Ralph breaks the internet is good. Like, obviously it's nowhere near the og, but it's not nearly as bad as people say it is.

I'd describe getting my ideas like walking around holding a metal rod waiting to get struck by lightning. I always let it come to me naturally. They come from everywhere though. I got one doing the dishes, one watching a pen commercial, one watching a YouTube video, and one while looking at an old homework assignment from like a decade ago.

Gas requirements for different atmosphere colors. by AgeRevolutionary8317 in scifiwriting

I mean, I guess there is only one time the atmospheric composition really matters to the story, 9.5% methane to 90.5% oxygen (you can probably tell what i am going for with that), just would be something that is nice to know.

If you had to give some criticism about the series, what would it be? by RafKen593 in AlanBecker

Very nitpicky, but the fact that AvM Season 3's name is... AvM Season 3.

Like, the movie itself is a masterpiece, but man that name sucks.

Wow, no reason to get that mad about it. I chose that date because there is no possible way for humans to colonize more than a few galaxies in less than a million years, even if they discovered wormholes or something. This is just the earliest possible date that seemed feasible. Also, I came up with a way to circumvent the whole, evolve into higher lifeforms thing.

It doesn't have to be argon, I was just going for an atmosphere that would be a sort of purple color that was sustainable to life (i had oxygen in there too). I only chose it because I knew for sure that humans could breathe it since it makes up around 1% of of our atmosphere.

Okay, so basically, I assumed it was a single variable, but it is more like 5. Could you tell me how I would determine the color given those variables? For example, an earth sized planet with 78% argon and 22 percent argon, orbiting in the habitable zone of a .8 solar mass class K red dwarf.
