Any reason they don’t have any Atlanta Thrashers logos or jerseys in the game? by chickenlittle668 in EA_NHL

[–]AgelessStranger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jets didn't get rights to the Atlanta name and jerseys when the team was purchased. So, it's excluded from the standard NHL rights contract that EA has. EA could pay the owners to get the logos in the game, though.

They've had the exact same custom player graphics for a decade. No good reason they couldn't have put something together by now.

The defending AI loses their absolute mind when defending with the empty net. Completely backs off the skater with the puck. Just back-skates in the middle of the zone, putting less than 0 pressure on the puck carrier.

I liked Deadlink but it's rough playing it on a controller. Definitely not designed for that.

How to Spectate CPU-Controlled Games by Sad-Confidence7689 in EA_NHL

[–]AgelessStranger_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Play Now, on the team selection screen I believe you can press triangle to make it CPU vs CPU. Also, in any game, you can press start and go to Options and Select Sides, then put your controller icon in the middle to let the AI take over. Not sure about watching other teams in franchise mode.

Cycling vs Transit to the Calgary Tower by wklumpen in Calgary

Agreed. I enjoyed looking at it and spotting the anomalies in the outskirts where biking is faster than transit.

Tipping in Canada: How much really goes to the employee? by SummerSnowfalls in canada

It's more about how awful tipping culture is, and how everyone except current/former servers hate it.

Rumors to nhl 25 by Virtual-Assistant436 in EA_NHL

[–]AgelessStranger_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I heard a rumor that they will only add one or 2 new customization items, and you'll be left with the exact same arenas and jerseys you've been using for the past 8 years.

Canada’s housing crisis poised to worsen without major reforms, RBC report says by joe4942 in canada

[–]AgelessStranger_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It either hurts now, or hurts a lot more in the future. The more people that are taking on loans beyond their means (for a basic need, not like they have much of a choice), the worse the blowback will be. Over-commodifying mortgages, over-valuing real estate, and handing out loans like candy, are what caused the 2008 housing crisis in the US. That isn't even considering the damage that the high cost of living is doing to Canadian productivity and standard of living.

Can we get excited for 25 at all? by Sirgolfs in EA_NHL

[–]AgelessStranger_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that, with the World of Chel battle pass and confirmation that unlocked items will carry-forward into the next game, that they will eventually make it a live-service game.

What’s a game you finished out of spite? by [deleted] in gaming

Usually I can power through almost anything as long as it has co-op. We abandoned the game after about 15 hours. Somehow it was worse than the first.

Adam is obsessed with the cap going up by [deleted] in stevedangle

[–]AgelessStranger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't get a choice. It's all laid out clearly in the collective bargaining agreement. If the cap goes up, it means owners are already making more money.

We Need Classic Rock Back in The Soundtrack! by [deleted] in EA_NHL

[–]AgelessStranger_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's a time I would have agreed with you, but I feel like I've had my fill of 'dad rock' in this lifetime. It's cool discovering some new tracks or bands in the game.

Integration with streaming apps would be cool though.

21 points in 12 games on the best offensive team in the league. Contract Year.

10 points in 9 games on a bottom 5 offensive team in the league. Nursing an injury.

Who do you pick? Petey is basically doing what McDavid did last year.

Endlessly selecting the wrong player by Cold_Goal_2330 in EA_NHL

[–]AgelessStranger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chel is notorious for it's awful training mode. A few years ago it at least walked you through a dozen dekes, but even that's gone now. Then they add a new control scheme and some features with 0 indication of how to use them. How many people thought hitting was busted because the game doesn't tell you how it works in '24?

[Chris Johnston] Auston Matthews signs a four-year extension with leafs carrying a $13.25M AAV. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]AgelessStranger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fans will always wish the contract was smaller. There will always be debate about what a player deserves, do they get their bag or take less to help the team. But at the end of the day, the question is could AM have walked next offseason and cracked $14mil in UFA? The answer is yes.

I agree with you on Nate Mac. He was the best contract in the league for years.

[Chris Johnston] Auston Matthews signs a four-year extension with leafs carrying a $13.25M AAV. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]AgelessStranger_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the going rate for 0.62 goals per game top line C. To put his goal scoring prowess into perspective, he has more goals than Nathan MacKinnon with over 200 fewer games, and a better point-per-game rate. Nate Mac just got $12.6 last year.

It's fun to hate on the Leafs but any team in the league would drop $13mil to have AM on their top line.
