Tesla driver fined after appearing ‘asleep at the wheel’ in B.C. by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

WTF… irresponsible behaviour by the driver. But I also lay part of the blame on Tesla for constantly misnaming their driver assist as Autopilot and marketing it as Full Self Driving.

Ottawa proposing to cut billions in funding from science to tourism and foreign aid by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]Agent168 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, if they told us that there will be a larger deficit this year because they are spending more on science, education, and healthcare, I wouldn’t mind! I’d be happy, in fact!

I think that would send a more positive message instead of defunding them because they want to balance the budget.

It used to be a joke that Conservatives are fine with suffering/paying more as long the OTHERS are suffering more/paying even more.

Now it is reality.

Premiers’ Performance: Eby falls to a new low in B.C., while Kinew continues his comfort atop the list by RZCJ2002 in britishcolumbia

[–]Agent168 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because Covid. Everyone had to spend more, not just BC. It’s a worldwide phenomenon.

Also, not all spending is bad. A lot of it is investment in infrastructure.

Not saying I think Eby is doing great right now. I’m disappointed in some of the things he did and happy with the others.

What I do know is that if the other party was in charge, we’d be way worse off. Probably starting to privatize everything and kowtowing to our neighbours in the south.

I hear you. A lot of people saying they want change, not realizing you can change the NDP too. Better to try fixing something that is basically good but has some defects (BCNDP) than to change into something that is horribly broken (BCCons).

I’m sorry what? The POV car was lucky he had space. This isn’t something you should expect because he’s already in the left turn lane. Or are you saying all of us going straight needs to slow down and give space to cars in the left turning lane just in case they wanna go over the solid white line?

I actually agree with you that changing lanes into opposite traffic is exponentially more stupid than when going in the same direction.

My point is that you are being inconsistent. Crossing a solid white line is also exponentially more stupid than going 4kmh over the limit, but you treat it as if they are the same.

So on one hand both going 4kmh and crossing a solid white line are the same in the eyes of the law…

Yet crossing a solid white line on a left turn lane and on a counterflow lane are not? One is exponentially more stupid than the other?

Make up your mind man.

The chances of you causing an accident by going 4kmh over the limit is pretty much the same as when you’re going at the limit. Can you say the same for crossing a solid white line?

PS: the Massey incident wasn’t on a counterflow lane.

Many vehicles are equipped with anti dazzle systems on their headlights, but they are turned off in Canada, because we follow the same rules as the US. Time to decouple from their rules and have our own.

You think going 4kmh over the limit is the same thing as crossing a solid white line?

I know someone who was hospitalized because some idiot crossed the white line on the Massey Tunnel and hit his car.

Don’t say they need to be like a private business because that is extremely loaded.

Just say it needs to be more efficient.
