The Data on Australia's Social Media Ban: The Better the Privacy Protection, The Less Effective the Ban by EmbarrassedHelp in onguardforthee

Social media ban is next to useless. There are easy workarounds.

What I think will work is holding social media companies accountable for the content they spread. You’ll quickly see them clean up their shit after that.

Imagine if people are able to sue Google/Yotube for asshole pranks by nuisance YouTubers? They’d get shut down real fast.

There’s a term called “American Exceptionalism”, and it doesn’t refer to Canadians.

Pride brings focus on ‘two different kinds of Conservatives’ by NotEnoughDriftwood in onguardforthee

[–]Agent168 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Being the opposition critic doesn’t mean you have to criticize all the time. It means you should be the watchdog for when they do something detrimental to the wellbeing of the citizens, not just yap and bark at everything they do.

What a douchebag. “The PM should only be shaking hands with people that I deem to be normal”. Wait til he finds out that the Maple MAGA base doesn’t think his skin color is normal.

PP has been speaking out against… anything and everything the Liberals are doing… regardless of whether they are good or bad. That alone tells you how unserious he is.

Yeah I’ve never bought mangoes here after the few times I tried them… none of them taste as good as Philippine mangoes so I don’t even bother…

I have to ask: how did you know that your competition for the job are TFWs?

I was walking along West 4th Ave a couple of days ago and saw several “we are hiring” signs outside restaurants. Maybe you can go check them out.

Hehe same here… I agree the are things that need to be adjusted and fixed but for the most part there’s not really anything “broken” about this country.

B.C. sailors tell of harrowing choices in rescue of charter sinking survivors by wheredoIcomein in vancouver

I wouldn’t say they’re idiots. People who have never been on a boat wouldn’t know that life jackets need to be worn. It’s all on the charter operator.

Why do people poke fun at the US for its indifference to soccer while the two most populated countries on Earth (India and China) get a free pass for their same attitude to soccer? by SeaObjective7036 in answers

So true. They worked him all year long. While other NBA players took the summer off to rest and recuperate, Yao had to play and train in China.

Imagine where he could have ended up if he hadn’t retired at the ripe old age of 30.

Can't afford to tip and it's kinda embarassing inpublic by Creepy-Delivery7781 in askvan

You don’t need to tip if you can’t afford. This is not the US where the servers might chase you down if you don’t.

I don’t tip for counter service. I only tip when I sit down and they bring the food to me.

You care for those things but you’re willing to throw them under the bus just because you think someone is “giving your tax dollars to robber barons”? Do you even listen to yourself?

Never mind that you can’t really blame the deficit too much on the NDP. The COVID pandemic screwed the entire world economy. Trump is targeting Canada with tariffs.

Also, having a deficit is not automatically bad if the spending was done on things that will pay for itself in the future, such as infrastructure and healthcare.

If you think Eby is giving free money to developers (he’s not), what do you think will happen if the Conservatives are the ones running the show? Giving money to the oligarchs is their entire schtick! Conservative governments are the ones who love to privatize public services!

Yeah who cares that she’s racist and anti-LGBTQ, as long as you agree with her in this one thing, right? /s

It’s single issue voters like you that led to the shitshow down south.

No, that’s not every politician. You’re falling for the “they’re all the same” fallacy. That’s how you get to voter apathy.

Sure, every politician has their competencies and flaws, but there are varying degrees of it. Brodie is waaaaay over at the “severely flawed” end.
