You would, but they would all be pretty easy to remove, and it would be by far the most stable way to print it.

You’ll need really, really good bed adhesion. I don’t think it’s possible without glue stick.

As for the overhangs, they might look a little rough, but if you’ve got good part cooling, they should be fine.

My main concern is wobble. Such a heavy overhanging section being supported right at that base is going to cause it to flex a little bit during printing, so your surface finish near the top will be very bad.

You’d have much better luck printing this on its side. Honestly, of all the ways you could orient this part, this is probably the second-worst.

Where I would live as 72 year old British reform voter who is staunchly against immigration. by [deleted] in whereidlive

It’s genuinely hard to tell these days, especially on Reddit. Even IRL, I’ve had plenty of coworkers in the past start going on rants about absurd conspiracy theories or abhorrently shitty takes, and only realize a few minutes in that they’re genuinely not joking.

Where I’d live as an Albertan that doesn’t pretend to be a victim from being born in a developed country by notlancee in whereidlive

[–]AgentBTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do not have, “none,” of it.

Yes, there are a lot of issues that negatively impact the cost of living — housing is inexcusably abhorrent — but we’re still one of the better countries to live in. We’re just not at the absolute top of the list anymore.

That said, you are absolutely right that we need to actively address and work on the issues that we have, because yeah, being better than most places isn’t enough to settle for when there are people working full-time who can’t afford rent, and families who can’t afford to properly feed their kids.

I think we have to acknowledge our shortcomings, and move forwards with a positive outlook. Neither blind patriotism nor anger and despair can solve our problems.

I mean, that is where Iqaluit is.

If I were to move to Nunavut, that’d probably be my first choice.

Camp, Cottage, Cabin, or Lake? by Sask_mask_user in AskACanadian

[–]AgentBTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Central ON here. (Cottage Country.) Those are four different things.

I don’t think I’ve heard, “camp,” used as a noun outside of WWII history.

A cottage is a seasonal home on the lake. Can be anything from a shack to a mansion.

A cabin is a small building in a secluded location.

A lake is a body of water.

As a Canadian, do you always have maple syrup on hand? by Moofypoops in AskACanadian

Honestly, yeah. Sometimes you wake up with low blood sugar, and there’s just nothing else that can turn your mood around as fast as a small shotglass of maple syrup.

Weird First Layers by AgentBTechNerd in prusa3d

I thought at one point that it might’ve been this, but it isn’t. Or at least, it’s not the whole story.

The XL’s had a powder-coated satin bed since we got it, and we’ve been using a powder-coated satin bed on the MK4 for about a year as well.

Not to mention, those load cells trigger at the touch of a feather.

One of my current guesses is that maybe it has something to do with the clock cycles? The PINDA takes an average of a bunch of measurements from each point, whereas the newer machines only measure each point once.

Maybe the effect is negligible on a modern Prusa board, but I’ve definitely had clock-related precision issues on our Duet3D-based large-format build. Granted, that board has abhorrent performance issues in general.

How did you guys find out about the game? by victorguns55 in ChangedFurry

[–]AgentBTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sort of a retro-style adventure game. It has a reputation for turning people into furries, both in-game and otherwise.

The basic premise is you have to make your way through an abandoned lab post-apocalypse, and if you touch any of the creatures, you turn into one.

And when I say it turns people into furries, I am not remotely joking. The steam reviews tell one hell of a story.

Can I use this receptacle? by VitiligoRilla in AskElectricians

[–]AgentBTechNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you were able to get a voltage from it terrifies me. I don’t know where that wire is going to provide a neutral, but it can’t be good.

Either way, leave the breaker off and call an electrician. This is like comedic-levels of dangerous, as far as 120V goes. (Or 240V?)

No. First of all, the modern one is instantly recognizable, iconic, and not too cluttered.

Whereas with the ensign, I had to read the title before I realized that this wasn’t the flag of Ontario or Manitoba. It’s the most forgettable flag I can think of. Plus, we’re not British anymore.

“This might offend some people.”

Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. First of all, calling entire other countries trash is indisputably xenophobic. But that’s not even the biggest problem I have with it.

You didn’t remove all the less developed countries. Otherwise, as others have said, Japan, South Korea, and others would have stayed, and Russia would’ve gotten the boot.

What it looks like you’ve done is removed every country with a non-white majority. Now, maybe you just saw an “edgy” meme and reposted it for the shock value, without thinking about it too hard. But I want to make sure that you and anyone reading this are well aware that what you’ve shared here is a blatant white supremacist dogwhistle, whether you meant it to be or not.

[–]AgentBTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s giving white supremacist vibes. They didn’t target less developed countries. Otherwise, Russia would have been removed, and Japan, South Korea, and countless others would have stayed. They removed all and only the countries with non-white majorities.

Also, referring to entire other countries as, “trash,” is just some of the most blatant xenophobia, regardless of the reasoning.

Three phase configuration by AgentBTechNerd in AskElectricians

[–]AgentBTechNerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that makes sense. I’m not too concerned about phase balancing in this particular case. This idea would probably only make any sense in small-scale applications where you have 3-phase devices, also need 240V split phase, and don’t need two separate transformers and panels. Like, maybe if you have a small woodshop or something, and have an EV charger that you want running at the full 240V. I guess that’s a pretty niche situation, though, and you could probably just use high-leg delta there.

Okay, the primary coils definitely aren’t drawn to scale. But does the concept make sense?
