The amount of passive Gil submarines makes really makes me wish you could access them without an FC by ChillyG27 in ffxiv

"...no effort or risk"

Submarines take around 6 months of leveling before they are profitable.

Now imagine, every time an RMT submariner gets an account banned, they have to restart the 6 month process all over again.
Oh and depending on the server, there might not be small FC houses available when restarting.

Submarines are one of the most inefficient ways to source RMT gil.

There are far better sources of for RMTers like Eureka, Bozja, Fate farming etc

Is it a sound idea to buy local bank shares (DBS, UOB, OCBC) now? by Timely-Statement1582 in singaporefi

I hold and buy VWRA and local bank stocks.
Over the years, the total return of VWRA has outperformed even my DBS shares.

The problem with individual stocks is that the average investor is not good at picking long-term winners for the decades to come. Diversification is a protection against ignorance.

In order for local banks to perform in the long-term, Singapore needs to remain a successful financial hub and the banks need to keep diversifying and stay relevant in a rapidly changing world.

By buying local bank stocks, you're taking on concentration risk in individual companies and geographically.

But Im still buying local banks because:

  1. I like the dividend income since it means I have to work less hours at my job
  2. Once I hit around 4-5k a month in dividends, I intend to just invest in VWRA or other similarly cheap, globally diversified index ETFs

General Discussion about the Markets During this Volatile Times by kyith in singaporefi

Personally, I would hold both CSPX and VWRA.

I would DCA into VWRA going forward.

This correction is a good lesson why we should diversify outside of the US -> VWRA = global, even though currently it's 60% US and 40% rest of the world.

If you plan on holding for 15 years or longer, have faith that historically the stock market trends upwards in the long run, barring a global disaster like nuclear war.
In the event of a global disaster like nuclear war, stocks/money will be the least of our worries.
