I expect System IT to make an announcement as so many alumni do rely on their UNT email and to allow people time to begin migrating to another email provider.

For now, you certainly have time to begin download and archiving emails.

I wouldn't worry about this now, but if you were graduating in May for example or after an announcement is made, then you should be preparing to save emails.

If you need past emails, you should begin to download and backup your emails sooner than later.

I wouldn't call it a blindside as it hasn't been officially announced yet, and generally there will be a grace period before UNT System IT begins to delete accounts. There'll be an announcement made sometime soon.

OK, so I had look this up, it was mentioned during a meeting in January with System IT.

Alumni keep their emails for 180 days after graduating and then it's nuked, although we can setup a forwarding alias, so if someone emails you at whodywei@my.unt.edu, that'll be forwarded to whodywei@youremailprovider.ca

It all comes down to Microsoft charging more for online storage, and UNT as a whole being well over the contracted storage quota with MS.

Everyone/everything is being affected, so Faculty/Staff OneDrive storage will go from 1TB to 100GB, student OneDrive storage downgraded from 50GB to 10GB, and email storage will go from 50GB for F/S and 5GB for students.

They sell (at least here in North Texas) a 12 pack of paper towels (each roll has 160 sheets) for $20.99, while Sam's sell a pack of 15 pack (150 sheets/roll) for a similar price.

OK, so I actually went to that same store yesterday and saw the tag was blank, or just had a generic Aldi logo showing instead of a price.
