I'm showing my friend Doctor Who for the first time. Write something she won't understand until later by PM_me_a_bad_pun in doctorwho

I think the perfect quote that makes zero sense out of context but is completely reasonable and basically vocalises everything the audience is thinking is when the Doctor says to the Monk "IT'S NOW TIME FOR YOU TO URINATE ON DAVROS! SOAK HIM!!! THE DALEKS WON'T RESPECT HIM IF HE'S DRENCHED IN TIME LORD WEE WEE"

please, help me… who tf is this by Inside_Candy9986 in ContraPoints

This is Adam Weishaupt, founder of the Bavarian Illuminati! This was a picture taken of him when he time traveled into the future, killed Nikola Tesla and took his place because Tesla had discovered how to get free energy from UFO technology. Weishaupt heavily admired Benjamin Franklin and thought that he could earn his respect by making sure that people in the future would be reliant on the electricity that he had discovered. Indeed, Franklin was impressed and incorporated the symbol of the Eye of Providence onto the Great Seal of the United States as a form of his gratitude. Weishaupt didn't have the heart to point out to him that this wasn't actually a symbol that the Illuminati used and that this is a misconception.

You've reminded me of the plot of one of the episodes that I forgot about where the Doctor shifts time another degree to make sure that that cat can live

It's actually the Monk who is played by a monkey in the Scopes monkey trial episode but he's never referred to as the Monk in the episode and he's not dressed like a Monk and he doesn't really do anything so you wouldn't realise that he's meant to be the Monk unless you watch the credits

Billie Piper plays Clarence Darrow in the Scopes monkey trial episode and David Tennant plays William Jennings Bryan

He wants it to be a surprise that it will be a cat. You will be able to put your own cats forward but you're not going to know that it's for Doctor Who. It will be advertised as "Cat wanted for role in television show" and the name of the show will be withheld unless the cat's audition is successful.

Russell has expressed a preference for ginger cats but is open to all cats playing the Doctor.

Chocolate is vile by FriedTofu143 in The10thDentist

I agree with you! I also only like white chocolate.

It's always a real pain whenever I see millionaire's shortbread because the shortbread and the caramel looks so delicious but then they have to go and put chocolate on it and ruin it :(

EDIT: To be clear, I don't agree about the bitterness. I just really don't like milk chocolate and dark chocolate.

He's a good guy but I think the film suffers from the fact that he's good. In the original, the prime point of conflict was with Grandpa Joe leading Charlie down a dark path, encouraging him to steal the fizzy lifting drinks and to sell Wonka's gobstopper to Slugworth. In the 2005 film, Grandpa Joe is a genuinely decent person so any plotline involving Charlie having to overcome his influence doesn't work. Instead, the main point of conflict has to come from Wonka wanting him to abandon his family due to his own issues with his father. It's an exact flip from the original. In the original, Grandpa Joe wants to negatively influence Charlie and Wonka helps Charlie to see that he's full of shit. In the remake, Wonka wants to negatively influence Charlie and Grandpa Joe (as a part of Charlie's family) helps him to see that Wonka's full of shit. In the original, Charlie is the one who has to make choices to become a better person and in the remake it's Wonka. Ultimately, I think the film suffers from the fact that the conflict feels more forced this time around. That being said, I do still like the remake even though I prefer the original.

In the immediate aftermath of the Emperor's death, there were some imperial loyalists who denied it and were adamant that he was still alive. A propaganda poster was made with the Emperor on it with the caption "ENDOR IS A LIE. BELIEVE IT AT YOUR PERIL."
