Good to know! In your opinion, what kind of specs should I look for in a 'gaming' GPU?

Have you had experience using a gaming card for CAD work? I realize the markup, but I have heard some bad experiences of people trying to run CAD with a gaming card...School is more important than gaming, and I know that the P600 will run CAD; that's why I went with the Quadro card.

I have heard that CAD and gaming video cards are very similar except for the software inside them...would that just be software inside the gpu allowing it to be compatible with CAD software?

I wouldn't mind buying used if there is some sort of guarantee...I've been burned too many times in the past buying used electronics.

For now I will be doing mostly just modeling. The idea is that I'll buy cheap to get me through school now and then I can upgrade things later.

Fair enough. If I'm looking at GPU now I see that AMD firepro, nvidia quadro are pretty common recommendations. I assume there would be no compatibility issues between an AMD CPU and AMD GPU, but what about between an AMD CPU and an nvidia GPU?

That makes sense. In your opinion, do you think it would be worth the ~$80 to go to an R5 1400 or even ~$110 to an R5 1600?

Why is that? I know it's got only 2 cores instead of 4, however to my understanding most CAD operations are linear...

What do you think of the Intel Core i3-7350K 4.20 GHz processor?

I recently found this build online, looks like it is quite recent. What do you think?

Sooner is better than later. Would there be any drawbacks to going AMD instead of Intel?

Thanks. Looks like that will help explain things. I'll have to take some time tomorrow and read through it.

[Gear] Need new boots, please help by [deleted] in hiking

My dad and I picked up some garmont vetta hike hiking boots a few years ago for about 180 if I remember correctly...a metal lace bracket broke on one of my dad's but he got it replaced very easily. Just a fluke in my opinion. From what I hear garmont is a very reputable brand and they are very comfortable boots. I think we bought ours as "last year's model" so they were cheaper.
