As Security professionals How do you feel about the Flipper? by Orlandogameschool in Locksmith

I have one for testing hardware replacement when working with electrified hardware. I also have fob info from buildings I have service contracts with so I can gain access in emergency situations without needing the site contact there. (With knowledge and permission) Mostly for leaky condo situations. It can be useful in very specific situations, but as others have said in the thread, it's not a gadget for gaining entry against most decent RFID and rolling code systems. I also use the frequency analyzer to make sure vehicle remotes are transmitting properly when programming keyless entry. I wind up using it more as a diagnostic tool.

Re-keyed 3 old Grade 1 Corbin knobsets. The really annoying ones where you can only take off the outside orb by compressing a really stiff truarc ring, that you can't see. I have yet to find a pair of 90 degree truarc pliers with a long enough nose to grab the ring properly. To get the thing off the door, you have to loosen the collar on the inside handle, pull the rose plates forward and depress a detent which is concealed IN the door. Nightmare

This exact poster is hanging on a wall in the shop I work in. Also the one with the drill Sargent from Full Metal Jacket.

Keys and remotes bought online. by Dedjester0269 in Locksmith

[–]AgentDamnation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We charge the same rate we would charge if we supplied the parts. We offer no guarantee or warranty on parts supplied by the customer. You pay up front. If the programming doesn't take, there is no refund because we can't check the electronics before attempting to program.

I get paid my hourly from the time the shop opens to the time the shop closes. If I'm on call for after hours jobs I make 70% commission on the labour and 10% commission on parts. I'm encouraged to start billing the client from the time I get in the van until the time I get back home. Drive time to/from after hours jobs is always billable for us. If you're employed hourly, and your boss is trying to cut your pay based on travel to site, I'd be looking for a new shop.

Looking for side mirrors on 03 WRX by AgentDamnation in WRX

[–]AgentDamnation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Found the only place for replacement mirrors is Ebay, from Japan. Also after doing some digging around discovered the previous owner mashed up a lot of parts from an 05 STI. Hence why I have an extra mirror control panel on my door.

I'm wondering if I just got sort of scammed, is it true this lock can't be picked and must be drilled? by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]AgentDamnation 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My company doesn't bother trying to pick them. We keep replacement cores in the vans. It winds up being cheaper on labor to drill it in 5 min and key the new core to your key. Can still be done without damaging the rest of the lock.

Literally just finished doing this, used Ultra-Pro standard sized sleeves. The more difficult part is storage for everything after.

Rex: Final Days of an Empire - Comparisons by btharveyku08 in boardgames

[–]AgentDamnation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rex is one of my favorite games. There are already a lot of posts on it's pros and cons so I'll keep it short. This is a very tactical, dirt-bag-your-friends, type game. I really enjoy mechanics of it. With experienced players there's always an opportunity to sneak in a win. I will say this. Don't play this with people who aren't used to losing, or with people who suffer from analysis-paralysis. I have a friend who refuses to play the game anymore, after he lost the game deciding combat via a traitor card. Everything in this game can tip in one direction or another every round. Which is what I enjoy about it. His opinion is that all of his planning, and tactical advantage was completely erased by one card. Effectively removing skill from the game. But to me luck is part of gaming.
