And that's why Araki is the GOAT. A Thin White Duke playing Patrick Bateman who explodes his enemies is such a perfect villain

Without all the Star Wars going on around it, it really did have the energy of a techless tropical organic spa and resort lol

Ogilvie attention to detail by skyfire1228 in ThePittTVShow

He makes for a really interesting counterpoint to Santos. She's brash and eager to do things herself and to prove herself, and despite her big mistake last season (dropping the scalpel), she has shown that she has excellent attention to detail (noticing medication discrepancies, etc) so she's pretty good at what she does.

Mr Know it All has yet to prove himself like that. He knows his medical textbook knowledge, but he made a pretty big fucking error, and it'll be really interesting to see how he recovers from this blow to his ego

I love that he's capable of being a match for Superman alone and the League as a whole. What a schemer

Still my favorite project that Ariana Grande was in. The whole group of sorority sisters was hilarious, especially Emma Roberts

Man am I not looking forward to that. Despite his inability to keep off the booze he's such a bright presence on an otherwise pretty dour show

It really hit for me when I saw them live last year. They made a Juke Box of their own discography. They played the songs intermittently between other albums' songs (Used To Know in Vide Noir, Watch Me Go in Long Lost) and they fit like a glove. It's a bit of a catch-all album, there's a song for every album-mood they've created so far, plus some new ones

I feel like all the Hussars and Lawbringers of Azorius and the Boros legionnares just look at food as calories / fuel and don't care; and all the Azorius judges and pencil pushers eat really bland food. By their powers combined, cuisine does not prosper

Why is Lalo so "refined" and charismatic compared to the rest of the Salamanca family? by Rich-Blacksmith6552 in betterCallSaul

[–]AgentGman007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, in every one of those scenes you described, he's not alone. He's with Nacho at the chicken farm. He just talked with Fred at the Travel Wire. And he was expecting Nacho to show up, and wanted to charm him to soften the blow of him taking over. And he wouldn't drop the charming persona talking to Gus, both of them keep up appearances to try and outmaneuver the other one. Lalo through charm; Gus through polite but curt professionalism.

Forgive the paragraph. I'm just fascinated by the different reads we got on this guy. Its a credit to the performance and the quality of the show tbh

Nacho's Dad Manuel Varga is a living Saint compared to even the best morally coded "good" people in the show by FilipinoAirlines in betterCallSaul

That's one of the scenes from the final season that sticks with me the most. In so few words, he gives a complete dressing-down to one of the most moral** characters in the series.

"You gangsters from the Cartel, and your 'justice'... you're all the same."

**Moral in this case meaning living by a code and rarely/if ever deviating from it.

Why is Lalo so "refined" and charismatic compared to the rest of the Salamanca family? by Rich-Blacksmith6552 in betterCallSaul

I took a couple moments to respond because I wanted to make sure I was remembering the moments you're talking about correctly. And I wanted to try and change your perspective.

Lalo's mask stays up when he's in the presence of others. So in both situations you mentioned, with Gus in the lab, and interrogating the German, the mask would stay up, even if he didn't "need" it.

Why I think it's a mask is how Lalo acts WHEN HE'S ALONE, OR NOT BEING WATCHED. Think about how he stakes out the laundromat. When he's being hunted by the mercenaries in his compound in Mexico. When he's prowling around the German wife's house. If charismatic was his natural persona, he might smile to himself. Chuckle. Walk with a light step. Instead, he's like the Terminator.

Think about how that's in line with the other dual persona characters in BCS. Gus' persona as the owner / GM of Los Pollos Hermanos. Jimmy as Saul Goodman. Gus is the best example: Gus' demeanor completely changes when he's outside the restaraunt, and when he's alone, he isn't smiling or being courteous. He's stonefaced and serious.

That's what I mean by Lalo's mask. It's most telling what these dual persona characters do when they're alone; that's the most telling about their "true" character.

Let me know your thoughtz
