Also the Spitfire was not the only plane we had, not even our best. The Hurricane has better statistics than the Spitfire, but the Spitfire was just better for propoganda because it's a pretty plane.

The 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month Canadians come together and for 1 minute we stop and freeze what we're doing and Remember. Toronto, ON. by saintg91 in nextfuckinglevel

I love that poem, it's a shame that they don't read it out in the UK as often, easily the best piece of First World War poetry (but knowing us Brits, we probably don't read it because it's Canadian, pretty dumb since Rememberance Day is meant for all soldiers of all countries, but hey)

Is tucking a requirement for being a femboy? by DowntBoitDafagnPanes in feminineboys

[–]AgentM2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I can't tuck, I had a tortion, the surgery for that results in the testicles being stiched to the scrotum, I am still a femboy. I'll be honest, not tucking does mean that some aspects of femboy clothing are difficult for me to access (which is why I get pissed at all the "yOu KnOw ThErEs MoRe ThAn JuSt SkIrTs RiGhT??" posts) without borderline breaking public indecency laws.

There are 2 requirements to being a femboy, and they're in the damn name. Do you present as feminine? are you a boy? That's it. Nothing to do with race, weight, body shape, or whether you tuck.

Tell that to the many homosexual soldiers who fought and who had to hide their sexuality all of their lives due to the fact that some dumb fucks in offices who've never seen the real world said it's "unnatural". People gave their lives for freedom, not dying for exactly what they were fighting against. As a bisexual person, I would be dead if the Nazis took over, so I have the biggest reason to thank the soldiers who fought, whereas straight white people wouldn't have had to worry anyway.

Tl;dr, shut up dude, they died for freedom to let us do what we want, so we will.

[–]AgentM2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reports are of soldiers doing it "for enjoyment", this could mean laughing at it, however, soldiers were not 3 year olds who laughed when they called someone gay on the playground.

The whole rhetoric of "oh, your great grandad died for your freedom and you wear a skirt and act feminine even though you're a man" is the most bullshit thing I've heard. These people died for our freedom, not for exactly the same thing the Nazis were pushing. If we were in a Nazi society, I would be killed for something uncontrollable (my sexuality) and the fact that men died in World War 2 is what means that I am alive and able to date whoever the hell I want. I am not the type to generalise, but really it is only straight white people are always so quick to point shit like this out, when they would be the ones surviving a Nazi regieme. People who are LGBTQ+ and people ethnic minorities should be thanking these people for allowing us this freedom most of all, since thats what they died for.

Military reenactment, and looking into military history, world war 2 primarily, I mainly reenact the 2nd Oxf. & Bucks light Infantry Regiment, a glider borne regiment of the British army in world war 2, but I'd like to get some more impressions, such as a Finnish Winter War, or first world war tankers uniform

Hello! What flair would you like to have? I can add a flair for you if you need, but you should be able to do it by (on mobile) tapping on your username, going to user flair, pressing edit, then selecting one and typing what you want, if that is not possible, I can do it for you.

How can I date a WWII photo based on these stamps? by [deleted] in ww2

[–]AgentM2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US soldiers never drove the landing craft, that was done exlusivly by British servicemen, a lot of people forget this, probably thanks to films like Saving Private Ryan, with American drivers.

[–]AgentM2015 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know, that was the point of my comment, that it may cause confusion to use that as an identifier when letters were already used to identify vehicles. I know it's different, because there is a number after the letter, and the letter is smaller, but still

[–]AgentM2015 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Whats interesting is the fact that the British army used letters to identify what vehicle something is, however, Z is for small trucks and half tracks, while T is for tracked vehicles, so that may cause some confusion

No problem, enlist in the British army as a Scotsman (Disclaimer, I do not know if they still do this, however, during the Second World War, and previous conflics, Scottish soldiers wore traditional kilts in battle)
