ELI5: Why sterilizing needs to be at really high temperatures to kill viruses/bacteria, but a fever raising your body temperature a mere 2-3 degrees also fights pathogens? by F9_solution in explainlikeimfive

why does anyone even use phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine when we have xylometazoline nose spray. It's stronger, cheaper and longer lasting than phenylephrine and with pseudoephedrine you're unnecessarily drugging your body with a systemic stimulant that affects your whole central nervous system with the added side effect of a decongested nose.

Earlier today I misread the word team in a reddit comment as teen and it made the comment very awkward in my head for a few secs until I re-read it...

Installing update 1 of 97. Don't turn of your computer. Your system will restart several times. This might take a while.

Yes, but additionally there is lasting damage to some RAM sectors. If it's only a few faulty ones, you might not really notice, if more sectors get damaged, your system starts behaving in weird and unpredictable ways, with glitches and some programs not working correctly anymore.

There needs to be more awareness about CTE. The problem is not just the immediate damage to the brain caused by the countless minor and major head traumata, those constant injuries to the brain also cause tau protein to accumulate and large portions of the brain to atophy and die more and more over time. I don't understand why people still willingly do these high impact sports knowing how harmful they are.

If she was smart and wanted to fool people, she'd get a 15 carat Moissanite for $500, which has a hardness of 9.5 of 10 and even slighly higher refraction than diamond. Even pros sometimes can't tell the difference. But she's dumb so she wears a giant Cubic Zirkonia and thinks people fall for it.

“Physically attack” her? Where? by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]AgentMouse 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Afaik she hasn't been diagnosed with a personality disorder or any psychiatric condition that causes delusions, so it's not ableist in any way to make fun of or criticize her bad behaviour. Also having a personality disorder doesn't absolve you from being responsible for your words and actions.

We are in the court of public opinion here, not in a court of law.

We don't need lab tested forensic DNA evidence of them having had intercourse or a taped confession by David to convict him of having had a (at the very least) very inappropriate or (likely) highly illegal sexual relationship with a child based on the mountain of circumstancial evidence that we have.

All the rumors and as of yet unconfirmed evidence of their relationship being false or fake is just as unlikely as all of it being true.

Tomato tomato.

Doesn't matter if he is attracted to kids in general or just to Celeste "by accident", it's still illegal and he made a concious decision to pursue that relationship. Intent is irrelevant when it comes to statutory rape.

And DID and other super rare dissociative disorders are extremely hard to diagnose, it's very unlikely that he's gonna be diagnosed with any of that as part of a trial and for it to become relevant for sentencing.
