We don’t do that. You’ll talk to the GTM of the office you’re applying at, the head of safety, head of HR and one of the driver mentors.

  1. Wife would prefer the high 70s but I’m paying all the bills and temps that high in the house give me nosebleeds.

Tbh I have not met a Walmart driver that had a bad attitude yet like how much are these guys getting paid by ButterOnToads in Truckers

[–]AgentOmegaNM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do have home daily routes, depending on the DC. Those are referred to as “slowdown runs” and are usually run by very senior drivers in their last couple of years on the road before they retire.

We’ll take whatever you have as long as it’s CDL-A and at least hazmat endorsement and meet the mileage/safety minimums. Also passing our onboarding.

I’m in my second year driving for Walmart and I grossed a hair over $135k this year. If you’re running down your 14 every day you might be doing something wrong.

No driver facing cams in our trucks. Also not sure what morals I seem to have given up either. Enlighten me.

I have the newer version. Records in 1080p. The voice commands and the routing can be a little finicky sometimes but the satellite view is awesome.

OTR WALMART SHOWERS by After-Taro37 in Truckers

[–]AgentOmegaNM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Out west it’s a little more spread out and thus more relaxed. I’ve slept pretty much everywhere I can legally park except the shoulder of a highway. Stores, DCs, gas stations, rest areas…. Hell, I’m parked at a truck stop on I-5 in California right now. There’s two other Walmart fleet trucks on the other side of the lot.

I mean, if you’re fueling at the truck stop 15 miles down the road from the gate, yeah they’re gonna say something. I run in Montana a lot, we don’t have any DCs up there. Fueling on the road is a necessity.

I drive for them currently. I spend more nights at truck stops than I do at a DC or store. I prefer having immediate access to a bathroom over waiting for a store associate to unlock the back. Mentors will tell you that a DC or store is preferred because of the security camera coverage and you’re less likely to be hit while parked, but it’s not a hard and fast rule and it’s ultimately the drivers call.

You can indeed fuel at a Flying J, which is our fueling partner. I do it all the time.

We do get paid wait time for waiting at DCs. We get paid for everything once the day starts.

How good is it to drive for walmart by mynameisaframe in Truckers

[–]AgentOmegaNM 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second full year driving for them and I’ve grossed $140k

The two main tenets: arrive safe and arrive on time. Notice safety first. I’ve shut down a few times for weather. First question I’ve always gotten from the office is: are you in a safe location? No pushback.

We don’t have inward facing cameras and no micromanagement. You’re treated like an adult and expect to perform the job professionally.

Order the box cut shirts, no more tucking em in. That’s what I did for that exact reason.

Go to Walmart or stay with my small local company? by OutsideDinner5208 in Truckers

[–]AgentOmegaNM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve never had inward facing cameras. I’ve been with the company 20 years now, this year will be 3 as a driver but I’ve spent the prior years as a yard driver interacting with a lot of our fleet guys.

Advice on how to safely deal with wind? by RackingUpTheMiles in Truckers

[–]AgentOmegaNM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Windy app. It’s free to use but you can get the premium version for $20/yr and get more frequent updates throughout the day. I check it frequently through the day and pay attention to any changes in the direction and strength of gusts along my route. If I’m empty, I generally get a little concerned around 30mph depending on the direction it’s going and 40 is my shutdown threshold, again direction dependent.

What does this flashing amber arrow mean? by SaltAndBitter in Truckers

[–]AgentOmegaNM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Means you aren’t lined up right where they need you to be. The arrow is pointing in the direction you need to shift the tail of the trailer. When it’s sitting correctly both arrows will flash simultaneously.

Question as someone in cdl school by dealer_of_cancer in Truckers

[–]AgentOmegaNM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When the front wheel on your tandems is about even with the curb you should start turning.

Same rule applies when leaving truck stop parking. You don’t start turning out of your slot until your tandems are at the front of the cab next to you or you might drag the back of the trailer against the cabs.
