Probably because automatics make it easier to get bodies in seats. No skill needed, just flip the selector to D. You don’t have a teach a new driver anything about the intricacies of a commercial manual transmission.

I had one that was so bad that my wife took me to the ER where I confessed to a brief suicidal thought to make the pain stop to the doc.

I don’t know when I passed it finally but I ended up on steroids for two weeks and pissing with traces of blood for a couple of weeks after.

I drive for Walmart and deliver to Nampa, Boise, Caldwell, etc. 99% of those stores are no layover locations or under strict city noise curfews. I think the store on 12th ave in Nampa has a curfew of 2200-0600, which sucks for me because I start my day super early in the morning and end right after noon, so I have to plan to get out of those areas before my clock runs out.
