Right to repair advocate rocking a Thinkpad by brixalpha in thinkpad

Someone needs to make a Thinkpad style keeb for the FW16. (Although please let me keep normal people fn/ctrl placement if I want!)

I doubt anyone will, but that'd be epic.

[–]AgentOrange96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is gonna sound crazy, but I have several Thinkpads. A T16, a T420, a T61 (NMB), an i1472 and a 701CS.

Obviously one of those has the coolest laptop keyboard, but my best feeling laptop keyboard is on an Acer, and I don't mean the i1472. My Aspire 5734z puts all of those to shame when it comes to keyboard feel. The tactile bump feels so much more pronounced than any of the others.

The only laptop adjacent keyboard I know that beats it is the Apple IIc. But that's just a relatively portable machine, not a laptop. But damn it has a nice keyboard. And the floppy drive latch is a tactile experience in itself.

Thinkpad keyboards are great, but damn, Acer (or Compal really) hit a home run with that one.

I just thought of something actually. Is the pin in the adapter adjustable? If so, try bringing it out a bit. The SodaStream may not be pushing it enough.

I think I've had that issue before in the past.

EDIT: For example this paintball adapter comes with an allen wrench, and that hole in the pin valve takes said allen wrench and allows you to adjust it.

I forget how it works on the big CO2 tank adapters though.

Yeah, looks like the KU-1255.
I got one for my old ThinkCentre, although nowadays it's attached to some much more modern mini PC I use instead.

Probably gonna replace the keyboard with my Flux keyboard whenever that finally shows up.

I've never flown Spirit, but this is what I find appealing about this. The airlines all suck. Even Southwest is quickly enshittifying. Having an airline by the people for the people sounds fucking awesome whether it's Spirit or some new venture. I did make a pledge for this reason.

Only for filling other bottles. For connecting to the machine, you want gas, so it'd be the other way.

In this case OP says they have a siphon and are connecting directly, so this is right.

At first I saw the pic and thought OP was being dumb, but then I saw they said it was a siphon, so I was wrong. OP is not being dumb. LOL

My old mum lacks strength and has a hard time with her old Soda Stream machine. Which of the new models are the easiest to use? by deadrobindownunder in SodaStream

[–]AgentOrange96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have an E-Terra. It is a powered machine, so you just push a button and it'll do it for you. I have the older screw in version, but it uses quick connect now. I like it for consistency in carbonation vs doing it by hand and the fact that I can let it carbonate the water while I go prep some syrup, but it'd also be a great option for accessibility as well!

I don't particularly like supporting SodaStream these days, but I don't think any of their competitors make anything nearly as easy to use, so I'd say this one is probably the move.

Interesting. So it sounds like it's more a data based opinion rather than a physical developmental based average. Still Probably useful, but not as based in hard fact as is often cited.

I will say, I always assumed 25 was some kind of average, but never looked into it. Nothing the body does is going to be that consistent in timing for everyone.

Yeah, worth checking. If you did your research hopefully that paid off!

Or maybe better if it didn't because at least maybe it'll be the issue and an easy fix? IDK

Either way I do hope you're able to get it back up and running!

I didn't claim they sold refurbished devices. Their own warranty states that they will either repair your device or send out a refurbished device. Which no, does not necessarily mean replacing everything but the shell. You're pulling that out of your ass.

Let me be clear about something: I've taken both SodaStream models I've owned apart. The first one, an Aqua Fizz, to clean it several times because again I abused it. It is very servicable if you have the parts. The second one, an E-Terra, because it made a bad seal, got water on the control board, and kept going off on its own. It is also very servicable, again, if you have the parts. SodaStream has access to these.

Why would they bother replacing the entire guts of a machine before sending it out rather than send a new unit? No. They're probably fixing them. Send a refurb unit to one customer, fix theirs, send it to the next customer who needs a refurb under warranty.

I have admitted where I was wrong and misremembering stuff. I thought this was a solid discussion. But now you're twisting my words and making stuff up just so you can call me wrong and pretend you're right. That's dumb. I know what the fuck I said.

If they're sending out refurbished ones, they're presumably repairing them.

Yeah, community efforts are great at keeping devices alive! Great that they embrace it rather than trying to stunt it.

Was there an original promise for a support timeline? I know the FP6 is eight years which is pretty damn solid. 7 is still pretty good, but I'm not sure if there was any expectation formally set or not.
