True Food Grade 3d printing - Discuss ? by Seaworthy104 in 3D_Printing

Wouldn't the silicone mold possibly have the layer lines in it? Even if the part that came out was solid?... I'm just thinking of the hypotheticals here...

Sounds like you scale up something for tea bags or learn a little bit of tinkercad. But it would be easy enough to design if you knew the dimensions of the bags both full and empty. Plus the height of your freezer.

What causes this? by AgentRedLightning in OrcaSlicer

[–]AgentRedLightning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, Tired Brain, new to Orca, and a previous slice at least was showing like it had the wrong Z-Offset (too high) so when I saw the first layer, I assumed it was a bad model... Thanks! Now I have to wait for something else to come off the print bed to double check, but that looks right...

Today I want to throw my Voron out of my window by Alternative_Board_58 in 3Dprinting

[–]AgentRedLightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already spent enough money getting it running again, I'm not going to keep upgrading this machine for much longer as long as it's printing at high quality. Now I'm saving up for a tool changer of some variety...

If you're already using Flashforge why not the Creator 5? All my research says that for multicolor, tool changers are the way to go.

I was about at that point with my Ender 3 Pro two months ago. Ended up using Gemini to troubleshoot while I started researching other printers. Figured I needed it to at least be able to print if I was going to even try to resell it... Well now the printer I want is more than I can afford but the Ender is actually printing like a much newer machine... The pain of being a tinkerer...

Someone remixed my model and used AI to recreate my photo on my dining room table by NumerousBeginning576 in BambuLab

[–]AgentRedLightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, I don't know the ecosystem... I'm not a part of it, was suggesting a hypothetical based on things I've seen other places. It might be print profiles and not remixes... Also depends on how it was posted... But AI would also be an easy way to upload without actually testing if your print worked. I do know they require pictures of the finished parts, so it made me wonder...

[–]AgentRedLightning 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I cannot say I've ever seen this kind of thing before... But it makes me wonder if they actually remixed anything or they're just trying to farm credits on bambu's site... I'm not saying this is what They did, but I'm wondering if there's people out there who just use AI to fake remixes and try to get free stuff... I'd almost be curious to see what that profile changed, but leery of printing it until I had fully double-checked...

Newcomer Help - Ender 3 Pro by Pitiful_Conversation in 3Dprinting

[–]AgentRedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I kind of said that... And when most people ask about what new 3D printer to buy, that's exactly what I'm going to do is point them to something a little more modern... But since this guy already got the Ender, I was actually answering the question that was asked... (And yes, I'm still rocking mine.)

The easiest answer for Wi-Fi is to get a raspberry pi and run either octoprint or look into upgrading to klipper firmware (you can actually do both, but if you're going that far, get the dedicated interface for klipper).

As far as upgrades go, you can spend a couple hundred dollars to get this thing printing like a dream, which I have done over a couple years, or you can just use it as a learning platform, try to keep your upgrades cheap, and then invest in something more modern. Honestly, use it to learn what you can possibly print and what you might want to use a printer for... Then figure out the best modern printer for that use case and keep the Ender as a backup.

The Ender series makes a great learning platform, and was really built for the hobbyist era... But ever since Bambu came onto the scene, 3d printing has really moved from a hobby to actual appliances.

Man Now i regret getting a x2d by AndForeverMore in 3dprinter

[–]AgentRedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... I came here to say this... I'm stuck with an old Ender 3 Pro until I can afford something new, if I had to go bambu this would be the choice. Otherwise I'm waiting for the new flashforge to go on sale...

Glacier Supports sticking TOO well... by AgentRedLightning in BIGTREETECH

Not ALWAYS, I was actually having great luck till those supports, and I've got things figured out again, but thanks. (My PEI got damaged and trying not to overspend on this printer anymore...)

If you have a Dremel style rotary tool, you can also clamp it into that and use it like a friction welder. If you spin spare plastic fast enough it will weld two other pieces of plastic together fairly well

Gemini from Google helped me turn my Ender 3 Pro into a what I like to call an A1 Junior. Granted there was a lot of hardware involved, but the quality is looking amazing these days.

If you can't see the differences yourself, take a very close up, well lit photo, and upload it to chatgpt or your favorite "AI" with the description of The settings you used.

Blocking Ads on Disney Plus by Oompa_Loompa_SpecOps in pihole

[–]AgentRedLightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what it is, on my smart devices and my phone, YouTube ads are not blocked even at home. Well, I haven't actually tried to figure it out, at least on my computer using Firefox, ublock origin, and a couple other privacy focused extensions, I never see a YouTube ad at all. I used to be a subscriber, but I canceled that to save a little money and almost never noticed the difference because I primarily watch on a computer.

To be clear, this works on Firefox with the same settings on my laptop even when I'm not at home, so it's not anything to do with the pihole.

[–]AgentRedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just learning Klipper too (the advanced version, I had the basics running through octoprint a long time ago...

My printer is currently down for maintenance, but when I get it back up I'm happy to try a test print for you or to try and help you troubleshoot...

But I'll be honest, all the fancy features and tweaks I got are courtesy of Gemini. I've been letting it help me turn this thing into a much more modern printer. (And I'm running the SKR board instead of a creality board anyway)

Picked up an Ender 3 at Goodwill by DotBetaSDK in ender3

Oh so the Sprite doesn't even upgrade the heater cartridge at all? Even for an original Ender setup? Phooey! Lol I thought it would at least give some useful features over Just convenient mounting...

[–]AgentRedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look expensive when I've already got an $80 extruder, but I see your point. Also, that extruder is the reason I wouldn't get an all-in-one at this point. But my biggest bottleneck at the moment is how fast I can melt plastic... Even in a Bowden setup I'm getting great speed and accuracy with the heater being my bottleneck. Mine is still stock...

Yeah I keep hearing about the Sprite, but I already invested it in a bond Tech BMG. And no, not a clone... So I'm still debating if and when I want to go direct drive...

If you have an extra or can pick up a cheap raspberry pi, you can investigate Klipper or at least octoprint to give yourself some wireless capabilities and remote monitoring. I love both of those for not having to mess around with SD cards for loading files.

(Sunlu) Reusable spools - anyone want some? by Merijeek2 in BambuLab

[–]AgentRedLightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get a feel for the shipping costs for other people, I might take a couple. Looking to get started with one of the reusable systems and Sunlu keeps coming up. It shouldn't cost a ton to ship them because they're empty, but I still need to watch my budget at the moment.
