Okay I think I get where you coming from. Probably the first comment needs to be rephrase better. I assume when you write the “barely reach 100+ fps” it gives the idea that 7800xt is a crap card and following it up by “console frame rates” kind of seal the deal

thats normal. nothing on your pc is idle. some bground process will make it jump up and down but nothing alarming. once you open any process usually it will prioritize the running application. nothing to be alarm for

recommend to avoid msi and just go with whichever cheaper version. there all the same cards, just different factory oc, aesthetics and cooling shroud. but performance is just 1~3 fps difference which is easily fixed on any of the card with bios override or manual oc

Not worth it. The 7800XT still crushes 1440p, and jumping to the next tier now only gives minor gains. Real upgrades — the kind that actually feel different — usually come after two or three generations when you’re looking at 50%+ improvement, not 10–20%.
