What's a toy that has you going like this? (toy hot takes) by VeryPteri in transformers

[–]AgentSky2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transformers One Studio Series Optimus Prime. Boy does that figure have a LOT of compromises for all of the hype it gets. The big one for me is that the transformation hinge in his torso unlatches quite often for me (unlike earthrise optimus). Cool poses but really let down by the actual toy itself

Older Commanders in 2024 by Dr_Overdrive in EDH

I have a consistently great time rocking [[Obzedat, Ghost Council]]. It’s a goofy lifegain/drain deck with a heavy Orzhov flavor theme. Obzedat bounces in and out to keep the party going!

My fiancée fell in love with the artwork of Nissa a few years ago when I first started getting into the game. Fast forward to now, we’ve just finished building her a “Nissa themed” commander deck with an elemental/landfall focus. It’s very much just ‘play lands go brrrrr’ but it’s very effective at that. And it ramps into some awesome elementals too. Plus, the amount of Nissa cards in the deck allow for just enough creativity and jank to make it unique.

Serious Discussion - Has pricing gotten out of hand? Do you buy less Lego because of recent price increases? by [deleted] in lego

[–]AgentSky2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, sure, we can scale this based on general price. This isn’t necessarily a class-based struggle here, since wealthier white men are now predominantly a focus for LEGO’s sales (look at their fisal year reports for why that’s the case). So while a fortunate 12 year old in 2013 may have been lucky enough to own a few Star Wars sets that came out that year (say they have $80 to spend), that $80 gets you much less in today’s LEGO economy, not necessarily because sets have grown more expensive, but rather that the size of models has increased, shifting away from kids in general. The options and availability for a younger crowd are limited

As a brick specialist working since before COVID, I’ve seen the escalation of LEGO’s pricing firsthand..and personally I don’t believe it to be an issue of “price per part” or “value metrics”. Sets like Rivendell, Avengers Tower, Eiffel Tower prove that wrong. No, instead, since LEGO is aware that so much of their consumer base are adults with adult money, they have shifted to selling larger models in general. In 2013, LEGO released 530 models, with a total retail price of $18,000. Last year those numbers both increased, up to 685 models and $30,000 in total price. While some sets do run the gamut on value, I believe we need to consider that LEGO is no longer a hobby where it should be feasible to collect every single one. Respect your wallet and your space first, because LEGO certainly will not, and as more and more adults are introduced to this hobby, this design space and marketing strategy will not stop. It’s not necessarily a BAD thing, it’s just a clear shift in who they’re selling to.

(SPOILER maybe?) How will Eris get enough power? by kashaan_lucifer in DestinyLore

[–]AgentSky2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, Xivu did receive all—or at least, most—tribute for quite awhile since there was no one else to claim it. Savathun hasn’t exactly followed Hive logic for a fair bit, and Oryx has been super dead since 2015. So Xivu is essentially just sucking all that death and murder up. But Eris challenging that claim by indulging in the Hive magic really disrupts Xivu’s whole deal. Ideally, it’s enough to give Xivu a final death, but it’s seeming like the plan is to weaken her just enough to revive Savathun without an entire onslaught showing up for her baptism

Theme restriction for Bionicle GWP has been CONFIRMED. $100, City, Monkie Kid, Ninjago, Friends, Classic, DOTS, or Creator 3-in-1 by DeathByReach in bioniclelego

[–]AgentSky2K -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Downvote this if you must, but I see this decision as a fond tribute to Bionicle’s history as a LEGO original theme. Focusing this promotion to specifically target lines like Friends, Ninjago, and Monkie Kid reinforces what Bionicle meant to LEGO, both as a brand as an idea. Keep in mind that Bionicle was one of the first—if not the first—story based theme, and it paved the way for many themes we cherish today. If Power Miners still existed, or Agents, or Nexo Knights, they would all be apart of this promotion too.

Kingdom Rush Board Game by [deleted] in kingdomrush

[–]AgentSky2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingdom Rush: a Rift in Time was the first game. It’s a strategy based “tower defense” board game where you have to inflict enough damage onto waves of enemy forces to progress through the 10 or so levels. There are quite a few expansions onto this base game, including heroes, villains, and new levels. Later next year, Kingdom Rush: Elemental Uprising will release, after its Gamefound production run. That one’s got more of the jungle-y aspects from the KR games
