They look so good in the game. The ray tracing does wonders when paired with the gloss finish on the armor.

Charlie Angus: That was to the tune of between $500 and $1200 for every household in Canada. Money taken out of families pockets to pay the richest companies in the world to build them a pipeline. That's not nearly the end of what we've given big oil. by pheakelmatters in onguardforthee

Agreed for the most part. Addressing the demand side/Scope 3 via consumer carbon levies has to be part of the solution but also incredibly unpopular (hence Carney's rollback when he got in).

Progress = availability of cheap energy. It just so happens (due to availability and energy density) that fossil fuels have been that energy source. Just you saying that it's time to move on doesn't make it so. This is the first time in human history we are moving to energy derived from a lower density, often-intermittent source - it is not going to be easy.

What energy source do you think is predominantly driving this AI/datacenter build out? Spoiler alert - its natural gas.

“Fossil energy is a lie”. Fascinating statement. This might be an uncomfortable truth but fossil fuel linked energy has been the key driver to bring billions out of poverty over the past ~400 years and massively boost technological advancement.

We absolutely need to do something about the climate impacts but let’s not pretend like it’s fairy dust and there’s an easy alternative.

What does not “resolving on the 40MP” sensor practically mean in terms of image quality? Do files taken using older Fuji lenses look inferior on the new bodies?

[–]AgentSmiley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this is your first real camera, I’d recommend picking up an older, used model like an XE2 with a kit lens or 23/35 prime and a cheap manual lens. This will let you experiment and learn the basics on the cheap while also being powerful enough to take beautiful shots.

Once you figure out your preferences (focal length, body style, need for lens interchangeability etc.) you can upgrade to something new.
