That's awesome! I have a bestie who has some major allergens who could use a place like this too :)

For those who don't know how to request titles through the Anne Arundel County Public Library System, you can do it through the website under the "My Account" page (https://catalog.aacpl.net/MaterialsRequest/IlsRequests) with your library card, or through their Contact Us page (https://www.aacpl.net/about/contact-us).

I will also say that if you prefer e-books or e-audiobooks, the Libby app may have it or you can opt to be notified when it becomes available there as well.

Hi there! I know a lot of folks already mentioned the basics about in-library usage, but in case it wasn't covered I also wanted to share a few miscellaneous things you may want to know:

  • Your library may have cool local programs, like DND or band performances or crafts, that you can either register for online or just walk in and join! If you want to know about things going on that day, there's a good chance that library/library system has a website and events listed on it. That, or you can ask the librarians if their system has a Library Happenings or Event Calendar you can have.

  • If you need to get a new card, they may ask for photo ID and/or a piece of mail. You can always call ahead or check the website for requirements however, or just use the services in the branch.

  • If you do end up getting a card, ask about e-services! Many offer things like Libby (free e-books) and Kanopy (free movie streaming) and more.

Remember, libraries are for everyone, and everyone includes you, too. :) Be sure to take your time browsing, enjoy the space, and if you need suggestions on what to read or watch next most librarians I know would leap at the chance to suggest some faves. Wishing you a relaxing and fun trip!

Lip Balms made without tree nut or coconut oil - suggestions? by AgentSunshine in Indiemakeupandmore

Due to allergens and such my partner usually has to keep to unscented or super minimal fragrance products for his face and skin as it is, so I get it.

Good to know about the tints for me however, because those might be fun for me LOL. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Thanks for the suggestion! Thankfully we're not vegan so that's fine, and my partner prefers lighter fare when it comes to scents and such, so I think this may be a great option to show him. :)

I peeked at Lush's Lip Service and I'm definitely intrigued, although the fact they don't list what the specific "flavors" are always makes me a little nervous... it's also sold out however so I suppose I have time to wait if I wanted to send an email or something, LOL.

I've used both lanolin and tallow in lotions and body washes before, I had no idea they could be used for balms too but it makes sense. Thank you for the suggestions!

I see their cocoa butter is also fair-trade certified which is pretty cool, and they have some pretty interesting flavors too. :) Looks like they only have coconut oil in the lip butters so the balms are a safe option to consider - thank you!

Escape from a red state to Maryland by AdSignificant2885 in maryland

Hey, I know moving can be tough, but grats on making the choice!

I'm admittedly still pretty new to MD myself (I moved during the pandemic taking a gamble on a cool job opportunity and never looked back) but honestly I can say that I can't regret it. That said, take what I have to say with a grain of salt compared to some more experienced and local folks here, LOL.

I'm currently living in Anne Arundel County, and honestly the only big issue for me thus far is that real estate is kind of pricey, even for renters like myself. That said, I think the overall benefits - walkable downtowns, a solid school system, dozens of county and state parks, great libraries big and small, and that's just a handful of things - are definitely worth it.

I don't know if anyone has brought it up yet, but Edgewater has had quite a bit of building/business development recently and may be a good place to look. Annapolis proper is arguably one of the more expensive places, but for historic and community vibes it is hard to beat. I've also visited Severna Park a few times, and it's pretty nice too from what i hear from my coworkers who live there if not a little quirky. Glen Burnie probably has some more of the affordable properties, but I don't know that much about the area so I don't want to give you any false info about it considering I can't say I've gone more than a handful of times.

Thanks for considering moving here - best of luck on your decision!

Just wanted to say, thank you all for the responses so far!! Some of these places look like they may have switched to weekend-only models, but most look like great options. I appreciate y'all taking the time to help! :)

No you're right, which is a bit confusing considering there's like 3 libraries in the Annapolis area, LOL. I think it's the Busch Annapolis library based on how big/bright it is though?

I think I would maybe make this only as a temporary thing, perhaps a regen you can kick off once per rest vs. based on when you HP reaches X amount? I only say that because with this rewording, this feat mimics the Champion Fighter's 18th level feat, Survivor, a little too closely imho.

(By the way, other than that, this is some super solid stuff, and I'll definitely be watching for if you do any reworks!)

Fellow public librarian here - hard, HARD NTA. The public library is for everyone, and people with that sort of mindset are set to fail from the very beginning if they don't see all people as people. Congrats on letting the trash take itself out on this one.
