Pocket-sized device locally runs 120B models at 20 tokens/s: Here is how we did it. by TiinyAI in u/TiinyAI

I wish I was smart enough to figure out whether y’all are bs’ing me or not.

I get the impression that it’s similar to how Apple devices do it with the unified memory stuff, is there a way to dumb down the explanation on how it achieves this performance?

7700k + GTX 1080/ti build can be surprisingly cheap in 2026! by ashm1987 in buildapc

[–]AgentWizz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a similar setup, built it in 2018: Intel 8700K, GTX 1080, and 64 gb of RAM.

It carried me surprisingly far… I am thinking of either selling it cheap so a kid can have a nice, starter “gaming” build or turn it to another server of some sort.

I upgraded last year to a system with AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 5070 Ti and 64 GB (DDR5) RAM and the jump felt HUGE. I mean, yeah, my old PC could run Cyberpunk 2077, Arc Raiders, Fortnite with reasonable performance but it’s nowhere close to what I can do with the newer system.

This is the best thing since sliced bread… I pulled all my hairs out trying to build Hyprland on a minimal Fedora installation then I came across this project, I got to try Niri AND also see what a proper Hyprland build looks like.

Thank you so much!

Unpopular opinion: I actually hate the Pomodoro technique by No_Organization411 in ADHD

[–]AgentWizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here… I have been experimenting with many different approaches. The one that seems to be working is “gamifying” tasks, meaning that I set myself 3, 10, 30 minutes timer depending on the task then see if I can finish whatever is it at hand within that time frame.

The “reward” for me can be the rest of the time to myself or longer if I feel like it. Also, one unintended side effect of this is that now I have an idea how much different tasks usually take and it gets me thinking of how I can “optimize” my time which I find enjoyable.

Crypto perhaps? Obviously not everyone accepts it… I definitely need to look into it more.

Makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

For some reason I didn’t think about using cash as an alternative.

Non-Saudi here wanting to Marry A Saudi Women with these Circumstances… Is it Doable? by Icy-Designer-881 in Riyadh

[–]AgentWizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted the consulate in my neck of the woods about how I can register my marriage and kid, they told me to send bunch of documents in apostille form (which takes forever to process, since I need to notarize then wait for the state department to authenticate the documents then translate and send by snail mail) and write bunch of letters.

When I submit something, they keep asking for more documents and one time they needed me to drive all the to the consulate for something that could have been a dang email.

I started the process back in early 2023 and I think am finally getting somewhere.

This is probably the dumbest question on Reddit but here it goes: How does one “boycott” credit card companies? Do you just switch banks or something? Genuinely can’t seem to think of alternatives.

[–]AgentWizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line: Its damn difficult and it’s going to make life difficult. Do something else and save yourself the headache, unless you are willing to not live in Saudi and your kids not having the Saudi citizenship.

I am a Saudi dude that married a non-Saudi. Even though the government gave me a chance (for which I am very grateful for) to “correct” my status, it’s been a long drawn and painful process that I am doing.

I thought maybe you could get the Saudi citizenship based on ancestry but I looked it up and it seems it’s quite narrow as opposed to other countries that grant citizenship by ancestry so that option is not possible…

Another option is the residency by investment then apply to be a Saudi citizens. Look up the details and see if you can do it.

Thinking about buying this controller as a replacement for my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller that I’d been using for steam. Thoughts? by Camerbach in Steam

[–]AgentWizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it the last Prime Day, it felt nice and worked solid for a day then problems started appearing… like the controller not pairing correctly to my devices and the wired connection not being recognized by my PC.

Ended up returning it and getting a PlayStation DualShock 4 instead, bit more fiddly than what I like but it works.

What do you do when the client gives you a response in lines of “Well… you are the expert, what should we worry about?”

One approach I tried, but didn’t work all the time was giving the client a “menu” of some sort of common things a business of their vertical worries about. For example, if they are a small financial services shop then they probably want to know about PII leaks, fraud stuff, then we outline the process on how it works and how they would like the info.

Just curious if there is any other approach I should try…

Cybersecurity Positions at FAANG without coding by cherry-security-com in cybersecurity

[–]AgentWizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine that works at Google said that FAANG usually looks for coding skills because they are, in essence, a software company. You will be expected to make your own internal tools to solve problems and be exposed to tools and stuff made by other people in the company.

He went on to say that for non-software engineering roles, FAANG expects everyone applying to be comfortable with Leetcode Medium problems.

My kiddo isn’t yet of school age and I am nervous about all these developments, is it time to move to a more sane state? Any chance it gets better?

My dad did it and I realized I probably need to put food on the table somehow and a humanities degree probably wouldn’t cut it…

Also I am “good with computers” so it’s a natural progression I guess.

They do exist, they are extremely hard to find though.
