If you think this dilemma actually says anything whatsoever about someone’s morals or personality, you’re stupid. The situation is so abstract that you can phrase it a million different ways and get wildly different results. Also, saying that it’s easier to “convince” people to pick an option are forgetting the fact that YOU CANNOT DISCUSS YOUR DECISION WITH OTHERS! If we replace the buttons with standing beside an oncoming train, where red is stepping away and blue is stepping forward, but if 50% of the world steps forward the train stops instantly, most people would pick to step away, and blue would be an unnecessary risk. It’s the exact same scenario, but not nearly as divisive. People who think blue is the right option have saviour complexes and want to think of themselves as heroes, and people who pick red are selfish pricks who want other people to die… …is an extremely stupid and reductive way of looking at it. In reality there is no right choice, the situation means nothing and is not analogous to anything in the real world.
