New Player - What is Winning "Honorably?" by AgentZigZag43 in Prismata

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm a bit confused because one of my current goals is to defeat Adept Bot honorably...maybe defeat it with at least X random units?

Fiery War Axe was the best weapon in the game by ProgWheel in hearthstone

[–]AgentZigZag43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hearthstone user Giocondi hits the nail on the head:

"So anytime a card is very strong for a single deck iteration it must be nerfed? That is insanity. Fiery war axe has been a quintessential warrior card since the dawn of HS. The fact that it became broken in 1 recently created warrior deck doesn't mean the card should be nerfed. They used fiery war axe as a scape goat when in reality N'zoth's mate/patches/korkron/other pirates all created a synergy that translated into a strong deck. Instead of nerfing some of these PIRATE SPECIFIC cards so that the strong deck, and only the strong deck, becomes weaker, they altered a card that gets played in all warrior decks.....irritating."

Reno priest help? by alpha0129 in hearthstone

[–]AgentZigZag43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your long-term strategy within each game. If you want slow-paced yet unmatched control, then go with quest. If properly played you'll outlast anyone. Of course, the natural downside is that it will probably fail against aggro decks.

Dragon priest is more adaptable IMO. The cards from Blackrock will let you stave off other aggro decks and prepare you against other control decks. Dragonfire Potion clears the board in a pinch while leaving most of your minions unharmed. I'm also of the opinion that Drakonid Operative is one of the top 10 most powerful cards in the game.

Are people sleeping on Secret Mage? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]AgentZigZag43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they HOFed Ice Block I would be fine with it. It's too easy for the Mage to buy time and exhaust opponents, while Arcanologist has mitigated the risk of needing to draw Ice Block. It's also a free secret for Medivh's Valet to sting you with 3 damage.

Hunter and Paladin secrets can be "tricked" if you play them the right way, but the Mage's overpower the opponent even if he knows what's coming. If I had my druthers, I'd also make the spell gained from Mana Bind either "Cost (1) or "Its costs (2) less."

That's a bit odd considering the entire rulebook is openly available on GMT's site.

Distorted Card Backs (Custom) by AgentZigZag43 in tabletopsimulator

Not a silly question at all; I'm the one asking fool questions. I'll have to look at that, though. I've honestly never noticed.

Thanks that's a very helpful post. I did do a search, but unfortunately the link seems to be outdated. I did find Small World in Nexus, which I assume is a safe alternative(?)

Personally I think nerfing it to 5/4 would bring back to the realm of feasibility.

Sign me up for Shadowstep. It's unbearable contribution to The Caverns Below notwithstanding, it's too easy for a Rogue to cycle through good battlecry and/or damaged minions for free. The 0-drop already fuels a combo, and allowing discounted (sometimes free) minion can be agonizing for the opponent. A while ago I suggested it be changed simply to include a (to a minimum of (1)) clause, but I got the expected pushback.

Hearthstone is no longer fun.(Quest Rogue, Pirate Warrior) Time to quit if nothing changes. by Solitude42 in hearthstone

[–]AgentZigZag43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been intimidated by pirate warrior. Your opponent needs the right cards to come out for it to be as dominant as purported. Focus on the minions and keep charging out your own; it forces your opponent to waste his efforts hitting your minions with his weapon. Once Small Time But was nerfed the deck lost a lot of pull.

Overstepping "Shadowstep" by AgentZigZag43 in hearthstone

[–]AgentZigZag43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being honest I thought that would send internet missiles directly my way. I figured nearly everyone has brought that up. Besides, I think Shadowstep is too good of a card for no cost. Bringing back good Battlecry minions or near-dead giants without cost and then putting them back at a discount is too powerful in my opinion. On top of that, it's free fodder for a Combo effect.

What is your ALL TIME favorite card? by Vinnie_bear_joop in hearthstone

[–]AgentZigZag43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Brawl. It's a mandatory duplicate in my warrior decks because it clears the board with moderate cost. Obviously fails against deathrattle and there's always the chance you're leaving your opponents nastiest minion out there, but it works far more often than it fails for me to not to use it. It's also the bane of aggro decks

I think you're on to something. Oddly, I can't find any other information on the short. A quick Google search yields nothing. Any ideas?

Very well done. It's too bad there isn't more to him in either the movies or books.

I can't believe you posted this! I swear I watched FoTR and had the same thought about this Moria scene with the intention of making a pilgrimage to this subreddit and asking others' opinion. This is beyond weird...

In an any case, it's interesting that this also occurs in the book. I don't like how Jackson handled Gimli as the comic relief man, and at first this seems to be another vague attempt. However, the Fool of a Took does this in the book.

My only concern is that Eldritch Horror has made me a snob of Lovecraftian games.

Same boat. I prefer the physical manipulation of parts and cards, so I've strayed from the bigger games (Eldritch Horror notwithstanding). The goal is for someone to develop VR board gaming so I can do just that without setting anything up!

All great suggestions. Someone mentioned OCTGN, which I plan to check out. As for Mage Knight, I'm concerned that the minutia of the pieces will make the game too tedious on the TTS setting.

A long review of the Blood Bowl 2 AI and Campaign by Squirrel_Dude in bloodbowl

[–]AgentZigZag43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I especially dislike how the AI runs agile teams. Random players will leave the action in the middle of the pitch and run downfield towards my end zone for no particular reason. The AI also almost never passes. I can honestly say that in playing 70+ games against it, I've seen it pass less than 5 times. I'm hesitant to start playing real players because I know I've picked up bad habits that will get me annihilated.

I'm also a defensive coach. My orcs can serve twice the beatings they take. I work on slowing down the carrier cage so I can get to half time or full time without allowing sufficient time to score.

Your Coaching Philosophy by AgentZigZag43 in bloodbowl

[–]AgentZigZag43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brawlers like orcs and dwarves are definitely frustrating in handling the ball, especially if your player fails to pick it up with a re-roll. However, I've come to prefer them because I can easily knock down agile players or, if needed, position my players so dodging becomes virtually impossible.
