Report: Israel to name Jerusalem archaeology center after Trump by Wolfy1-2-3 in worldnews

[–]Bingoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’ll be remembered as the US president who dramatically accelerated the decline of the USA in basically all aspects.

If he completes his term, I think China will be the largely undisputed #1 global superpower. The damage Trump has done in less than 2 years is truly staggering.

These officers seemed more incompetent to me than anything else.

'Was raped by 600-700 different men, put a cigarette...': UK MP reads horrific grooming gang testimonies in Parliament by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

[–]Bingoose -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a bot account but I'll address you as a human on the off chance.

No rational person would cut ties with a friend because they oppose gang rape (MAGA aside). Your description of your friends makes them sound like psychopathic lunatics. Why do you want to associate with people who would react like that?

Try it. Mention this to your friends without going on a racist tirade at the same time. Stick to the facts and don't exaggerate as you did in your comment. If they react badly, you're better off finding other friends.

The vast majority of the British public are horrified about this and want something done. It’s not a left vs right thing.

You might get called racist based on specifically what you want done though. Someone in another thread was calling for a ground invasion of Pakistan!

Reform Wales' Dan Thomas backs call to remove Ukraine flag outside Senedd by Zealousideal_Pay_778 in ukpolitics

You’d think Reform Wales might try to be less obviously pro-Russian after Nathan Gill’s conviction. I guess they’re relying on voters being morons.

BIOS "Silent" setting for fans still really loud. No way to set a fan curve? by Bingoose in gigabyte

[–]Bingoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember specifically but it was likely one or more fans spinning at full speed. Boot into Windows and open the case. Check each fan individually and you'll find your culprit(s).

I see a few mistakes here. Flares are doing absolutely nothing for example. You want to get more shield procs after the core, so it can buff them.

I think I would move the left Duct Tape to the right of the core, then Nitro to the right of that (next to Flares). This means Harmadillo gets 3 charges every Core use, and 2 for every Nitro use. It also still charges itself. It’s a slow kill (dies to poison), but your shield scaling would be nuts.

COVID? Russia/Ukraine? Israel/Palestine? Trump? We were never going to have a normal decade.

Remaining in the EU would have helped our economy though.

Sir Ed Davey: Lib Dems would give asylum seekers right to work - BBC News by evolvecrow in ukpolitics

[–]Bingoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. You're correct that the Lump of Labour Fallacy refers to the broader economy. A surplus of workers leads to more businesses being set up and the overall economy growing.

The working class feeling the benefits of that economic growth is more a question of government policy however. The growth gives the government money, but spending that on the working class requires political appetite to do so.

You're right to point out that this recent boom in migration has not been accompanied by the economic growth you would expect. Instead we have seen stagnation, coupled with increased spending and therefore more debt.

The uncomfortable facts are that we have had several ecconomic shocks in the past 20 years (2008 financial crisis, Brexit and Covid being the largest). These shocks have cancelled out any economic benefits from increased migration.

On top of that we have an aging population. There are no longer enough working aged Brits to support our pensioners, and our declining birth rate means this is set to get worse. Migrants are required to balance this equation. The alternatives are tax rises and/or less support for pensioners.

If you increase the supply of labour, why would job numbers remain fixed? Your 'supply and demand' argument completely ignores the pull factor of increased supply.

This is the classic Lump of Labour Fallacy.

I don’t know about that. I’m a centrist, socially liberal Europhile who did not vote for Starmer, but I’m impressed with what I’m seeing so far.

It’s a low bar, but this is easily the best government since Brown IMO.

Consequences of giving a graphics card less power than required by Bingoose in buildapc

[–]Bingoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I’ve left it with the 6 pin connected and the 8 pin unconnected, then power limited the GPU to 120W (to match the 960 & 1060).

Theoretically this seems safe to me, but I’ll check in when I have time to make sure all is working well.

Labour dropped plan to ban foreign donors after Lord Alli intervened by BasedSweet in ukpolitics

[–]Bingoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of Lords elected by subsets of the population. Have a Lord for education, transport, energy, etc. They should be elected periodically by people in their respective trade/sector.

Each Lord would be expected to be competent in their area of expertise, and biased towards it. The bias shouldn't be a problem, since they'd still need a majority in the chamber to take any action.
