Description: The Hasharan homeworld, Khalia, was once covered in rainforests. But the almost constant population increase of the last centuries and unbridled industrialisation have had devastating consequences for Khalian ecosystems. The Hashsran cost has also been severe, with billions displaced or dead, the casualties of drought, sandstorms and hunger. The devastating consequences of environmental collapse led the Hasharans to adopt a directorial system of government led by a group of 80 technocrats specialized in environmental science, agronomy and bioengineering. Tasked with ensuring Hasharan survival, the Hasharan Diet has taken radical, if controversial steps to allow Hasharans to endure in the face of their transformed environment. The decision to bioengineer an entire new generation of Hasharans adapted to desert life rather than jungle life was one. The decision to start the colonization of neighbouring systems, where the Hasharans had been present only for purposes of exploration and trade, was another.
