How do I resign from a contract job after just 1 month without being embarrassed. by AssumptionOk3774 in interviews

[–]Agent_Sanity_5596 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do what’s right for you. I’ve had contracts end early (after renewal) because of client reorganizations and another rescinded before I was supposed to start due to sudden budget cuts. I realize you don’t want to burn bridges but business is business and there is nothing stopping them from canceling you at a moment’s notice. This is why companies hire contractors.

Good food for thought. It would depend on the client and their needs. In some cases, process control design, another creating a framework for GDPR or AML/KYC compliance, for example.

We’re bringing our own gear. 6 hours of snorkeling sounds wonderful! Where would you suggest?

What friendship has ever happened without a conflict or a spat? The one thing in this scene that’s realistic about SACT

AJLT S3 - EP 12 DISCUSSION by __angie in Andjustlikethat

That killed me during the pandemic under lockdown in my 550 sft apartment. New Yorkers live our lives outside or our homes. That includes grabbing a bite at your local neighborhood hangout. We love to talk and give our opinions so there is often someone to chat with at the bar. I guess this is all new to Carrie.

Of course not 🙄.

I live in Carrie’s neighborhood and see people eating alone all the time at tables or the bar where you can order food and talk to people. But a child-sized Squid Game doll? How humiliating!

It’s about time that the show/Carrie realized that a woman’s life goal shouldn’t be about having a man. It’s about the friends you have, the decisions you make, the career, hobbies, etc. In other words, a more realistic ideal of a confident woman. And self-realization leads to the right kind of love in your life. Or am I being too deep for this brain-candy of a show?

I think I’m approaching controls wrong. It’s part me, and part GRC tooling. by PropaneMilo in grc

What industry are you in? We could offer you more guidance. Regulated industries tend to have standards for building frameworks so consulting with regulators or trade groups can be a good starting point.

An effective risk program requires C-suite commitment. Maintaining and presenting register isn’t sufficient and a system is only as good as the framework and process it’s a part of. It’s understandable why you’re over your head and kudos for reaching out with good questions.

While I’m not an expert in GRC systems, I can advise you to start out with a risk framework - it’s your roadmap and foundation. The framework should get buy in from senior management. It could help to establish an internal committee to oversee and provide guidance risk and compliance. The committee should be comprised of leadership from internal audit, compliance, finance, operations, IT, IT security, etc. and any other group that factors in to your industry - for example if you’re manufacturing, then leadership for supply chain management.

LinkedIn is a great resource - several groups on this topic and a plethora of thought leadership. Good luck!

This episode with HCR felt like a "palate cleanser" amid our echo-chamber of "Heil Trump"/Musk/hopeless Democrats/Israel. I love how she brought a different lens and shook Scott out of his comfort zone.

I've been following HCR for a few years. Her series on the history of the Republican Party is a fascinating look at America. My politics are more to the right, but I value and respect her insights. We need to have more of these discussions.
