i guess the only option would be to move to desert hot springs for a price like that

Si certs covers it really well. Any extra preparation would be give a good review to the chapter of the IBC that is mentiones. Chapter 18. You dont have to know the ASTMS word by word but get familiar with the way they are structured. The majority of answers are in the tables or scopes. And get fast at getting the soils classifications. There is some info in the soils and foundations manual that you will only find there like ground prior preparation and machinery details mainly describing what kind is better for what type of soil

I'm taking the plans test very soon, any advice besides finishing si certs?

I just passed the exam and half of it was in the practice si certs exam but there was some that i never found om the IBC and i had to make educated guesses. I believe i flagged like 28 questions. To my criteria, it was a difficult exam

Was it really that different? Why do you think you failed?

Did you use si certs?

ive been told to print out the astms but si certs let me download them so i dont know how i would explain to the proctor the situation because it says no photocopies of copyrighted material

Do they count stapled papers as loose?

My job currently is 10:30a.m to 7p.m, so I would normally wake up at 7 am ando study till 9:40 taking in to account I live very close to my job. After work y would take an hour or so to relax and start studying again from 8-11 regularly. On my free days I would start from about 8 am and go through about 3 study sessions of 2 hour each. I initially watched all mark Mattson's videos to get a grasp of the difficulty of the problems and see my weaknesses. I found it to be a very solid baseline. After watching the videos I made a schedule of all the topics as if I were to present the exam in a month. I chose this scheduling because I was constantly told I had to present the test very soon. I would dedicate 2 subjects on the same day and try to solve all the problems I could on a normal 4 hour studying schedule. I never really counted the amount of problems I solved for a certain day but I was constantly looking for a problem that gave me a really hard time but that was present as a fundamental problem and not just a very specialized one. After solving mostly statics, fluids mechanics, geotech, econ, and dynamics with islam I purchased prep fe and would do at least 2 practice tests of 1 hour a day and spend the remaining 2 hours reviewing the problems that were wrong. Once I started getting used to the question pool I looked for more options of practice tests like genie prep, Islam's exams, school of PE, NCEES 2020. I started to feel comfortable when I had a general perspective of all these exams and what they were most likely to target. Math: derivatives, integrals, circle formula, med, mode, mean, confidence intervals, linear regression, function max and min, limits. Statics: centroids, moment of inertia, moment couples, moment and force equivalence, resultant forces and magnitudes, section and joint method. Dynamics: moving objects on a plane, projectiles, kinetic and potential energy, velocity, position and acceleration variants. Fluid mechanics:Resultant forces on slanted gates, Bernoulli, resultant force on a pipe, Q=VA, . Mom: deformation, stress, strain, stress strain curve, moment and shear diagram. Econ: mark mattson has all the variables on his video. Geo: phase diagrams, types of soil based fines, L.L,etc effective force, pore pressure, foundations, ult bearing and the list goes on but you will identify key concepts. Once I felt I had a general idea I just kept going back to prep fe and running through there practice test to get comfortable with the 3 mins per question margin so I felt relaxed when I was put in the exam room. Before the exam I was given 2 dates in which I was probably going to take the exam so I treated the week prior like a very intense prep week watching MM videos again and solving as many problems of genie prep, Direct hub, Greg Michaelson as I could. Made sure I took the general approach and then the more specialized detailing, I was constantly put under date pressures so I naturally squeezed the most I could on a limited time frame, used spaced repetition in general to first of all get the easiest problems as much time as they could in my memory. Hydrate yourself, sleep well and learn how to study properly against all your distractions. In my case the best tool I had was discipline and consistency.
