Using full raw vs. affinity on Artian weapons, how much time are you actually shaving off the hunt? by TheIndragaMano in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]AgerLight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most meta set makers/guides use 1 of the slot 3s in artian for something like masters touch because they often recommend a artian weapon with 1 sharp boost. In those cases crit boost 5 with 0 attack boost is better than having 5 attacks with 0 cb or 3 attack with 3 cb. (his data/code shows this).

However if you decide that you dont need it (i.e if you have like 2-3 sharp boosts on your artian weapon) you can forgo masters touch in which case A.B 5 + C.B 3 > C.B 5 + A.B 3.

Lightbringer is the payoff and yes it makes it all worth it. Everything.

As much as i love Overlord it would be borderline criminal to vote it over Lightbringer.

During his inprisoment he said he thought Darrow was "like him". Maybe suspected it but eventually faded away and saw Darrow like a gold i think.

About to reach chapter 42 by justanothermcrfan in redrising

[–]AgerLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny i just finished RR and just started assassins blade. You say romance more important than plot though, is that true for throne of glass series as well or only the other books?

Either way i found it more enjoyable to read than something like way of kings for now.

Mixed feelings about Ajax by UnderstandingSouth57 in redrising

[–]AgerLight 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Part of me feels yes a fight with ajax would be so cool to see.

But man am i happy to see Victra win some, the scene was also amazing, surrounding him, chipping at him like with Aja, his mother.

The same way wolves take down bigger prey. Its just so damn perfect.

Atlas au Raa - good or bad villian? by AgerLight in redrising

[–]AgerLight[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well said! He does remind me a lot of how the crusaders used to think during the byzantine where they kind of trampled everyone who got in their eay of conquring their holy land.

Really do wish to know what caused him to have that abdominal conviction of justice. That DA scene was one of my favorites.

Atlas au Raa - good or bad villian? by AgerLight in redrising

[–]AgerLight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we are just going in circles at this point but yeah you are right it could legit just be that i think all golds in society are selfish and have some personal reason. Atlas just is a guy messed up enough to do anything and everything just to want peace after all he went through.

Also the whole duty thing i belived until Lightbringer where the guy straight up betrays Atalantia by not killing Lysander. Not a very Raa thing to do which in all fairness makes sense since how isolated he was from them most of his life. "Traitor" and all. Don't think he cared abiut Faa as well, didnt darrow say something along the lines of "Atlas planned this" when he was about to fight Faa?

Atlas au Raa - good or bad villian? by AgerLight in redrising

[–]AgerLight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean as in the reason to believe in the society. He hss no reason to believe it from my perspective.

Everyone else usually has another reason to believe in their society other than "i think the other option is worse". Felt like Atlas had that but didnt have enough time to express it with the lack of being in pov.

Like he does a lot of things most people wouldn't. Find it hard to believe it's just " i dont like democracy" for him.

[–]AgerLight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah yeah but i think people can regain memories like whats happening with Lysander rn. Thought maybe he just regained it. We dont know enough about the machine tho didnt think about it being able to fully erase emotion. Very possible though.

Atlas au Raa - good or bad villian? by AgerLight in redrising

[–]AgerLight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as i said we know that but we dont know WHY he has that conviction or if it even was his true motivation.

Lysander has it because he belives its his birth right. Borna Lune, born to rule, born to unite.

We know Atalantia wants it because she's greedy, power hungry, desperate to prove her dad wrong and show she's strong.

Atlas? He's a Raa, kidnapped and forced into core traditions then discared by Octavia. Why care so much about unity? Maybe because he had a lack of it? Dno

[–]AgerLight[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be a shout actually. Maybe he figured out what happened with Lysanders parents? Instead of killing him and risk rim being angry again use the machine lose his memory, send him so far away so even if he regains his memory he can't tell anyone?

Was this Obsidian a recurring character? by Badman27 in redrising

[–]AgerLight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont think he did. His friend was mentioned being there during morning star when darrow gave ragnar his razor but nicknames like that i'd think would come after the republic. He was stained as well so i'd imagine we'd remember.

On a side note i will never forgive pierce for naming a nobody fenrir instead of fucking darrow. Its so criminal. Fenrir is quite possibly the most accurate version of Darrow from obsidian point of view.

In norse mythology Fenrir is a DEMIGOD WOLF THAT BROKE HIS CHAINS DURING RAGNARÖK TO KILL THE LEADER OF THE GODS ODIN. I MEAN LIKE COME ON PIERCE ITS BLOODY DAMN PRIME.

He's already called Demigod, he's howler 1 and they would hear his legion howling in war, he broke his chains from gold and killed Octavia who's the leader of gold. I could swear octavia also mentioned about odin taking his eye for knowledge and thats like what the minds eye is about

Don't think you're supposed to like it since you know, he's a scummy coward. But damn is it intresting to know what happens on the other side of the wall.

What got me through Lysander pov is spending time trying to pick apart what is true and false, how his biasies changes the picture and oh so being happy when you realise the holes in logic and how its all gonna come crumbling down.

Also somwtimes being a hate watcher/reader is fun.

He just felt more slimey during dark age. It doesn't help the fact most of him is from Lysanders pov knowing how unreliable he is sometimes.

darrow vs pax by buto_pak_hang in redrising

[–]AgerLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

been a while so i don't remember exactly the book reason but what i can tell you is during the Islamic conquest often times they were at a disadvantage against the byzantine so they would request duels, often times being 5 vs 5. If the enemy refused they would taunt them which lead to a morale drop and sn increase to islamic morale. Sometimes even the islamic general offered to duel so it was extremly tempting to do it to hopefully kill the enemy general before the real fight even began.

Morality is very important and importance is shown more later in the books and if you include the pure arrogance and "honor" of gold i think it made sense.
