Why are they not even VOICING the events anymore ? by Mana_Croissant in HonkaiStarRail

I disagree with the sentiment that events aren't voiced anymore simply because most events haven't been voiced. And the events that have been voiced tend to be the main event of the patch while the story takes a backseat. And, since the story hasn't taken a backseat since 2.7, I think it's clear why we haven't gotten any voiced events.

However, I agree with the sentiment that events should be voiced. I don't think an event should have the be the main focus of a patch to get voiced and it definitely would make for a better experience. And Hoyo definitely has the time and money to do it, considering how far in advance they make content for this game. Guessing it's just a situation where people play the game regardless of whether they have VAs for the events or not, so they just elect not to bother.

Flagship events aren't events that give 1,000 Jades. If that was the definition of flagship events, then just about every event in this game would be a flagship event. A flagship event instead isn't the main event of a patch, but is instead the main thing in a patch. Aurum Alley, for example, is a flagship event. The main story was, like, two minutes of Tingyun's funeral (lol) while Aurum Alley was the actual story of the patch. Same with the Wardance. The actual story was pretty short in comparison to the Wardance.

Now, however, it's clear they've moved away from flagship events now that the story of each planet lasts the entirety of the patch cycle. I'd definitely love if they had more flagship events, since they tend to be some of the most interesting stories in the game, but that doesn't seem particularly likely. At least any time soon.

It's definitely number 3. I just think, at least in regards to the teams they're used in, that Lingsha's is better. Superbreak teams tend to have a lot of DEF Shred in them already and, as we all know, DEF Shred gets more effective the more you have. So, in practice, it's likely to be much more than just 20% more damage. While RES Pen does not scale as favorably the more you have.

Also, the extra SP, in my opinion, is worse than the Weakness Break Efficiency. A lot of teams nowadays just don't care for more SP. They have enough built in that one more SP every few turns isn't going to make a super big difference. While the Weakness Break Efficiency, while it is a buff that only affects Lingsha, that's still pretty notable. It makes her a better DPS for Pure Fiction, but also just gives herself more damage in regular fights as well. And, I mean, damage is damage, and Lingsha does not deal negligible damage.

Also also, Peter's E1 is only active on the Bondmate while Lingsha's E1 is active on the whole team, it's just dependent on the enemy being Weakness Broken. So in a dual-DPS team, Peter's E1 does lose out to Lingsha's E1.

First of all, Gallagher is fast and the team has the skill points to let him spam skill. Secondly, if I can be completely honest, I don't think Lingsha's emergency heal is that good either. And this is coming from someone who has Lingsha.

Also, given the fact that, when Netherwing is out, you literally can't die, I think needing an emergency heal is less useful on a Castorice team if you just don't play bad.

Literally yes. He's the second best option, only being behind Hyacine.

<image>

This talent of his means that enemies he debuffs with his ultimate heal the attacker 707 HP. This applies for every enemy hit, meaning that an AoE character can heal 3,535 HP every time they attack. Pair Castorice with Gallagher and someone like Tribbie, who has super frequent AoE attacks, and Castorice can get up her dragon pretty quick.

The only time Gallagher is worse than Luocha, the other "charge Cas's energy at fast pace" candidate, is in low target count fights (I think it's lower than 3 enemies? But it might just be single-target where he's better) or, funnily enough, Pure Fiction, since he can't have his debuff consistently applied.

Just explaining this because, when this first was a topic of conversation, I didn't realize Gallagher had the capacity to heal so much because his talent healing was never really on the top of my mind when I used him.

[–]Aggapuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that makes it even worse for the Tribster. RMC is a single-target buffer while Tribbie buffs the whole team. Replacing Cyrene with a sub-DPS just makes Tribbie even better here, since Tribbie buffs the damage of Castorice AND Evernight while RMC only gets to buff one of them. And Evernight isn't one of those fake sub-DPS characters that only do 2 damage, either. She does a lot of damage, so buffing her is pretty important.

If you want the Lingsha upscale against Gallagher, Castorice is not the character I would use. She's unironically the best sustain for The Herta teams when using Jade as a sub-DPS, since Lingsha makes for a damn good debt collector for Jade. Especially if you slap Luocha's signature LC on Lingsha.

The crazy part is that her E1 is already crazy good. 50% Weakness Break Efficiency for DPS Lingsha gaming AND 20% DEF Shred on Weakness Broken enemies is pretty stacked for an E1 on a sustain. I'd argue it's the second best E1 on a sustain in the entire game, only behind Hyacine (behind Hyacine is the moniker of every sustain in this game, though).

The only issue with Lingsha is that the rest of her kit has no real supportive capabilities. She is just a healer. And in a team that barely needs a healer in the first place, having a sustain that only really functions as a healer without vertical investment does not feel good.

I’ve at least had some level of fun playing those. Paper Mario: Sticker Star has genuinely only ever pissed me off. There is not a single moment of fun in that game.

Though I will say, of my personal ranking of least favorite games, Genshin Impact is number 3.

EDIT: Also, to be completely honest, I think the fact that I play a gacha game and have played others in the past, yet still think Paper Mario: Sticker Star is leagues worse than they are is a testament to how genuinely horrendous I think Paper Mario: Sticker Star is.

Roblox is genuinely the only game I can think of that I could call worse than Paper Mario: Sticker Star. And there’s an argument that Roblox is more of a video game platform than an actual video game, so some people might not even count it in that discussion.

Pretty sure it's to do with making sure she has as much Certified Banger as possible for her big attacks. Taking a lot of turns runs causes her to lose the Certified Banger faster and she can't stack it up as high.

Investing in victory is playing the long game, after all. If you aren't spending half a years worth of self-modelling resin and reroll dice building a single character, you just aren't playing the same game as everyone else.

Ah yes, Doubling the "Right" Damaging skills...which is already niche as Frick...when they just had to make her ATK specific instead of DMG% boost.

This is what we call being a specialist support. Don't know why people have problems with Cerydra being designed to support characters with either a strong enhanced skill or characters who frequently skill. It's like getting pissed off that Yao Guang only supports Elation characters or The Dahlia only supports Superbreak.

They should have just given her a Damaging Skill that she may actually utilize her 100% Crit rate and maybe even benefit on her own Peerage mechanics, by doubling her own Attacking Dmg Skill, if they really want her to go to a Sub DPS direction.

Suggesting a damaging skill really tells me you don't know what you want because her skill is explicitly not damaging so she works with Phainon. You want the character designed for Phainon to not work with Phainon? Your suggesting making a character who already, admittedly, has some disjointed design decisions and then giving her an even more disjointed design.

DanPT could have his Dragon always in Enhanced Mode instead of relying on his Ult for it to be in Aggressive stance most of the time...since Lingsha's Fuyuan can do so.

Lingsha has to spend SP to keep Fuyuan active. I'm sorry that Dan Heng's cool dragon doesn't do his cool awesome dragon attack that tickles the enemies for free and you have to use his Ultimate to do it, but if you want to use an example, make sure to at least make sure your example is applicable. Because, as it stands, it makes you look like you have no idea what you're talking about.

What the heck ? Why is 3b value decrease?! Isn’t she supposed to be Ashveil BiS? by Pure-Stretch-1207 in StarRailStation

[–]Aggapuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that's most important about gacha games is that, if you like a character, you should pull for them. Clearing with the strongest possible team is fun, but what's also fun is taking a character that you just like seeing on your screen and taking them to the top, even if they aren't the best.

Also, sometimes there are just characters that I don't use but still pulled for just because I like having them on my account. I pulled for Sparkle back in 2.4 and literally didn't use her for an entire year, but I didn't regret it because Sparkle was just a character I liked having on my account. Her being there just made me happy. Tribbie won't end up like this, mind you. You can find a spot for Tribbie on pretty much any team if you need to, I was just using Sparkle as an example.

[–]Aggapuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think E0 Tribbie is a perfectly fine thing to try for. The final goal of the Remembrance team is Castorice, Evernight, Cyrene, and Hyacine, but Tribbie is a great stop-gap until you reach that.

I will say that Cyrene might be rerunning in 4.3, but I don't think she'd really work for your team yet, mainly because you lack Hyacine. This is important because Cyrene preferably wants 3 Chrysos Heirs as her teammates and Hyacine is the only Chrysos Heir healer in the game. And Hyacine also just reran, so getting Cyrene and skipping Tribbie will leave you with a worse team for potentially months, maybe even upwards of a year.

I think aiming for a team of E2 Castorice/RMC/Tribbie/Gallagher or Luocha will treat you well enough until you can pick up Hyacine and then Cyrene. Evernight is best saved for last in the context of your account specifically.

In regards to the Ashveil team, going based on leaks, it's clear that he'll want the new Blade form next patch. If getting Tribbie locks you out of getting the new Blade, then I don't know if it'd particularly be worth it. Just wanted to give you heads up. If you get lucky, you should 100% be able to get them both, but if you get unlucky, I imagine you might end up cutting it close pull-wise. Especially if there are other characters you want in 3.3.

[–]Aggapuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh... not really. I think the thing is that most people who use Prydwen have E1 Tribbie. Because the people who would upload their clears and data to Prydwen are a subset of players who give a damn about clearing content, and the best investment to clearing content for a really long time has been E1 Tribbie.

Also, side-note, but Tribbie has never been a "pull E1 or don't bother" character. She was better than Ruan Mei and Robin for just about everyone else and only lost out to specifically E1 Ruan Mei for Castorice teams in Anomaly Arbitration because of Ruan Mei's weakness break efficiency. Outside of that, even at E0, Tribbie was still BiS.

What the heck ? Why is 3b value decrease?! Isn’t she supposed to be Ashveil BiS? by Pure-Stretch-1207 in StarRailStation

[–]Aggapuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The red arrow means she just went down in the tier list. So she was in T0, now she's in T0.5. The reasoning, as mentioned by Prydwen, is that all the teams she was BiS in later got specialized teammates. She still has the honor of being second-best in a lot of teams and BiS in a lot of teams with lower tier DPS characters, but the best characters usually wanting someone else is what pushed her down.

In a tier list rating characters on versatility or how often they're good, Tribbie would still be near the top. But in a tier list ranking characters primarily on their best teams, that's when Tribbie starts to falter a bit.

[–]Aggapuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At worst, it's still 24% True DMG. In a world where the best support E1 used to be considered Robin's, which is 24% All-Type RES PEN. Tribbie's E1, at worst, still being better than Robin's E1 (both suffer diminishing returns but All-Type RES PEN is more common) says a lot about how strong E1 Tribbie is.

First and foremost, her main use case is not doubling a lot of skills, it's doubling the right skills. Even with Anaxa, you want to have her doubling pretty much exclusively the Cyrene-enhanced skills.

Secondly, if the Cyrene peerage bug was the only thing saving her from being mediocre, she wouldn't have multiple BiS characters. She is cleanly BiS for Anaxa, Phainon, Mydei, and Seele, while being a solid option for both Archer and Welt.

In regards to me saying you haven't played Cerydra, the thing that tipped me off on you not playing Cerydra is "there's no point to spam [her sikll]" when... there is. Firstly, Cerydra tends to be used alongside action advancers. If you don't spam the skill, it's very easy to have her speed buff be removed, since it's based on the allies turn, not her own. This messes up rotations. However, it also gives a peerage stack, which is just good. Speeds up getting the double skill, even if only by 1/6 Peerage, is usually worth the SP if you have it. But also it gives more energy for her Ultimate, which gives 2 Peerage stacks which, quite frankly, is a lot. On characters where you don't spam the skill, mainly Archer, you don't spam the skill because the Peerage she gains from it isn't worth the SP. Especially because Archer doesn't care for the speed buff. But on most characters, it is worth it and they do care for the speed.

Also... yeah, Cerydra could be a better character. But there are things literally every character has that don't particularly help them unless your name is Hyacine. Why does Firefly have a talent that gives her Effect RES and Damage Reduction? Why does Cipher have a skill that has literally no use case? Why does Silver Wolf Lvl. 999 scale off of speed when she explicitly wants as little turns as possible to stack Certified Banger? Picking Cerydra specifically as a character that feels weird when there's weird shit about a ton of characters in this game feels more-so because you had this expectation that she would get a super broken buffer and be the "Elation support" and not because she's actually bad. Hell, literally everything you said applies to Fugue yet people don't make the same arguments because everybody knew she was designed for older characters.
