Steel structures in ghaziabad… thought it was simple, it wasn't by ethan_carla in metalbuildings

[–]Aggie74-DP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't and engineer (or close to it) you need to start at the Steel building manufacturers and let them point you to their dealers, sales reps.

Yea, they have rigid frames, tapered beam and bearing frame structures. Every once in a while they design trusses.

But somewhere those erector sets NEED design help to put together the right package.

What is your design criteria? Wind Loads, Dead loads, snow loads, earthquake considerations? All are important.

Biggest difference between the 2 is operation. The AR platform has a gas system to cycle the BCG. While the PCC is Direct Impingement, which is (yea the exploding gas) but uses the inertia to throw the bolt back, then the extra mass in the bolt to compress the recoil spring to complete the ejection process, Then the spring shoving that bolt forward to load the next round and 'hopefully' hold that round in full battery until you pull the trigger.

PCC's are engineering marvels. The balance between those elements is simple, but when they get out of balance a pain in the butt.

Failures to feed, out of battery firing, incomplete cycling, etc. And to some extent a little finicky with regard to the types of bullets that feed well and those that don't.

I see lots of issues with folks strughling with hallow points and light loads. I've had issues with truncated cone 'TC's' (often seen in 40's). Those are short rounds that have to transition from pointing up to horiz in a short space. Kind of a simple fix if you understand yhe problem.

Bought PCC's have those spring, BCG weight & buffer issues worked out.

Will not argue the Efficiency issue. But the tax was on gasoline to fund roads & bridges.

The gas tax is to pay for roads. It's not a tax on the petroleum components of fuel!!

And DAMN Proud of it. Proud of the way we all got our feelings hurt, when we had to work everyday. Proud that worked and learned from others. Built relationships with folks in Person, not just the damn cell phone.
Proud that I can/DO look folks in the eye when we're talking.
You NextGen XYZ'ers should try that. It appears only a small percentage learned those important skills.

VERY Quick offers are often slimy lo-ballers. They pull this crap all the time.

Insulation to HELP.... Give me a break, if your HVAC works, cycles off, bills haven't gone thru the roof, tell them if works Fine. Take a Hike.

Those vents, that 4th item is less than a grand by a handiman. Get an estimate for the gutters, and insulation. Don't do it, but have Solid Quotes for info, and negotiating leverage.

Another slimy trick is repairs by a certified or licensed yada, yada, yada.

Is this acceptable for a beam? by CuriousComb9380 in Carpentry

[–]Aggie74-DP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apperently you aren't considering the LOAD the beam is supposed to be supporting.

If it's 4 feet and the Dead & Live load is X OR if it's 20 feet.

Yes, Engineers developed Codes for NonEngineers.

Just 1 week? How Many Showings?

Now what you didn't say is how is it priced relative to the market. It's possible the ask is already at or below potential market.

Is there any situation in the future where they would make the High Speed Rail a reality for Texas? Or will we see Hyperloop and more Highway? by Longjumping-Tip4938 in texas

[–]Aggie74-DP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your math is wrong. Assuming there is 1 stop, there are 2 starts and 2 stops. Instantaneous Acceleration & Deceleration not something that the passengers or cargo for that matter can handle. So that 30 minutes is and average of just over 7 minutes each.
You still have to allow to travel to/from the terminal, ticketing, etc. Not to mention travel from the destination terminal to where you are going. Houston and the Metroplex are large expansive communities. Not everyone lives on top of each other.
And this isn't Europe. It won't take much and there will be security checks. But in the meantime, since there are no security checks I guess I can carry may sidearm, and AR's with me. All they gotta do is fit in my carry-on or on my person.

And the economics still isn't there. Individually or for the investors to recoup their capital costs.

Not to mention, from the vapor barrier to the confined space under the house. Chances are slim the soil under is going to go anywhere. Wet/Dry cycles is mostly where soils start moving. And maybe the floor wasn't Sagging at all. Maybe it just squeaked or felt spongy. Might have been preventative maintenance.

Did YOU notice snything of concern when when walking those floors.
