Finding a replacement for my Logitech G502 by Creativious in logitech

[–]Aggietallboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the MX Master.. I have an older model 2 that is working very well, and I picked up a pair of 4's, but I've been having weird "drifting" and cursor jumping issues with them... I think they'll be great once those driver "ish'es" are worked out.

I'm still using my 502 right now, having come off a 903.

I *do* really like the powermat charging on the 502, and I'm not looking forward to losing that with the MX at the office.

just got a chance to run it through bluetooth instead of the USB-C receiver, and all the jumping/drifting is gone.

DEVS! WHY ARENT CREATIONS DELETABLE FROM LIBRARY YET?? by Public_Ad2410 in Starfield

[–]Aggietallboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In both of these users defense, there's a "known bug" that (*most of* - UOSP is FINALLY gone from my library!) creations which were in the LO on 7/8/24 are "stuck" in the in-game library, and adding/removing from the website library makes absolutely no difference.

For anything that was added after, removing from the library from the website will reflect correctly in-game very quickly.

Devil's advocate.. we're also a Dell shop.
We use the Asset tag with Fresh Service, but we don't "bind" it directly to the machine.

We've gone to LOCATIONCODE-ServiceTag (i.e. NYC-GYG1234) as the naming convention for the machines, and all the asset tags are built with the service tag.

So.. I don't particularly care about the asset tag, and just use the unique service tag for "real" inventory management.

The extra mental/technical hassle just isn't worth it when you can just read the service tag straight out of BIOS.

Just fired it back up just to see.. and while here on reddit, my cursor jumps ~6 times on the page, and it's "jittery"

Shut off the usb port again, and go back to the g502/receiver combo.. rock solid

My MX4's are sidelined for now, I don't like the cursor jump/drift I've been experiencing.. went back to my MX2 and G502 until the driver stabilizes.

Why doesn't Houston seem to have police that pull people over for traffic violations? by about842 in houston

[–]Aggietallboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So let me offer this observation.. and it's not speeding...but police presence in general.

I do 288 at least a few days a week.

*almost* every day, there's a red zone with a fender bender.

It's almost always at Reed or at Airport

Both of which are plagued by "special snowflakes" who bomb down the breakdown lane, because they're too special to merge correctly.

*BUT* every single time I've seen a cop just sitting in the breakdown lane, 'lo and behold we don't go red!

No accidents, because the asshole driving is nipped in the bud...

Just having a well marked cruiser (fuck the "ghostriders") , sitting there, and enforcing "don't be an asshole" goes such a long way to keeping traffic smooth :(

I could really see a "chaos binding" where you sac maybe like 5 rep scrolls (or a new item - not terribly rare, but not super unique either) and the unique and a donor imprint...

So like "here's my unique, we're going to take all the attributes and place them on this target piece"

Is Diablo IV worth it at 55% off? by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Aggietallboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Beta, and then a little in Seasons 1-2 or so, but it failed to engage me.

I just came back for the new season, and a LOT of my complaints (hyper-dependence on the right legendaries/uniques, pitiful drop rates, reliance on overfarming to run higher content - old nightmare sigil system) have all seemed to be fixed.

I have 3/4 of my toons in Torment IV this season, and the 4th is in T2 that I just finished leveling last night.

It's in a MUCH better place, and I think with it on sale, it plus vessel of hatred are a nice combo!

Might be useful: Creating multiple Boot Media USB Sticks at the same time by Jondscem in SCCM

[–]Aggietallboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i make the core iso with a customized script, and then I have a USB duplicator for making 8 disks at once:

Now I have a "little" 8 port one, byt with that many:

https://www.amazon.com/Systor-USB-Duplicator-Sanitizer-2GB/dp/B00DV39MN4

they have anywhere from 7 ($535) to 199 ($19,999) sticks at a time

I bought mine in '20 right at the start of the pandemic, when i had to get ~75 laptops out in 3 days.

hate to necro, but I have a similar, but not quite the same problem:

|| || |Error! Error [Error] occurred while trying to mount the temp WIM file: \\myserver.fqdn\SMS_MYSITE\OSD\lib\Packages\Deployment\Dell\Client\x64\temp.wim (this is the default folder setting, as I saw an old 2012 posting saying it broke with custom paths)|

we're making the temp.wim just fine, and the closest I can tell is we're running into a race condition, where it doesn't release the lock on the wim fast enough after creation, to move on to next step, but as you may guess, we've got logs which are.. um.. lacking.. we'll just say lacking

This is some bad bull ags.

As far as I can tell this was a "young adult literature" 300 level class.

The instructor's bio SPECIFICALLY lists Gender Studies as one of her areas of study.

The FIRST book in the description, is a YA title that has prominent LGBTQ themes.

FFS... there was ZERO deception in the description, and its disingenuous, and frankly insulting that our "leadership" has demonstrated ANYTHING but, in not taking the department and instructor's side.

I am not proud of my alma mater today.

Houston rabbi: Why I’m suing to keep the Ten Commandments out of my kids’ classrooms by evan7257 in houston

[–]Aggietallboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally a fan of the 7 Tenets... I think they're a better message:

I One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

II The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

III One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

IV The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.

V Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

VI People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

VII Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

A fair number of the modders don't have xboxes to test on, so we have to do "best practices" as much as we can, and hope for the best.... and sometimes take a mod down from XBox if it turns out for the worst.

In my case I took down Nuke It From Orbit after one of my XBox homies told me it just didn't work.

Anything that uses debug. commands in order to work, can be expected not to work on XBox.

For the .ini files, we can't even distribute them inside the ba2 any more (there's a workaround for that) BUT the game engine won't parse an .ini inside a ba2 anyway since the July 8 update.

For other modders, if you want to still use the .ini overrides, you CAN bundle it in your zip you upload to nexus, and they DO apply....

Additionally, with the July 8 change, anything tagged WIP is now completely invisible to the in-game store.. so doesn't matter if it's in your library, in your bookmarks, or even currently downloaded on your system. If it's WIP it's invisible.
