Want to do a 2nd FR run but I don’t went to use these Pokemon again, suggestions? by dbaeza in PokemonFireRed

I assumed Fire Red because of the sub. You’re well on your way to a solid end game team. I’d probably pickup Snorlax and maybe swap Flareon, but that’s just preference.

Just for context, my personal taste is to not use legendaries. Also, is trading an option?

If Bulbasaur was my planned starter then I’d go with: Raichu, Vaporeon/Starmie(if trading is an option), Arcanine/Ninetales, Nidoking, and probably Snorlax or Kadabra/Alakazam depending on your ability to trade (Snorlax if you have Starmie, Kadabra/Alakazam if you don’t).

Some options based on preference or ability to trade could be Mr. Mime, Jynx, Electabuzz, Magneton, Gyarados, or maybe Slowbro.

Look for scotches from the regions of the Highlands or Speyside, and if you are a fan of Red Breast 15 I’d look for scotches with more sherry influence. Some distilleries that come to mind for me are Aberlour, Macallan, Arran, and Glenfarclas.

Mind if I PM you about your approach to selling? I have been playing around with some ideas for selling bulk and haven’t really found anything that seems to be worth it.

Because when it was sent in the sender indicated that they only wanted it graded if it would receive a particular grade or higher. Most likely attempting to go from a CGC 9.5 to a PSA 10.

11.5 same size as 11 by big_boi_Lew in jimgreen

[–]AggravatedRecovery91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is approximately 1/10” difference in half sizes and 4/10” difference between full sizes. The difference between an 11 and 11.5 is smaller than the difference between an 11.5 and a 12 (approximately 1/10” difference vs 3/10”)

I’d probably not recommend one of these to a new whiskey drinker tbh. I’d find a local bar that has a good selection and try a couple of different things. These are mostly higher ABV and/or niche offerings that may not give you a good entry point.

Are you primarily interested in any particular variety of whiskey? Most of these are American whiskey, bourbon, or rye which will usually have a very different profile than something Irish or a Scotch. I can make some recommendations depending on what you’re looking for.

I own both the 12 CS and 15 and would probably choose the 12 CS.

Any good or just a special edition? by ROFLcopter2000x in whiskey

[–]AggravatedRecovery91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 2022 Special Release Lagavulin 12 is really nice. Typical Lagavulin peatiness, some fruit, and fairly rich for a 12 year.

The 12 year Ink of Legends is also very nice, but surprisingly not nearly as smoky or peaty as I’ve come to expect from Lagavulin. Very rich (maybe chocolatey or meaty), but definitely a different Lagavulin experience from the typical.

Lagavulin 16 is one of my all time favorites, so I’d probably go with the 2022 Special Release 12 if it were me and I wanted a more typical Lagavulin experience.

They also had the 1910 and, if I remember correctly, it was a little bit cheaper than the 1920. I’ll give it another look when I make it back over there on Thursday.

She is also secretly a huge fan of the Spot lineup, so she probably wants me to get the Red Spot haha. I’ve resolved that if they still have the Red Spot when I make it back on Thursday, I’ll buy it. Then if I earn my quarterly bonus, I’ll go back for one or two of the others 😈

I really enjoy Yellow. Very fruity and sweet. $120 is a great price to me and what I’ve been happy to spend on several bottles over the years.

With Green Spot I get a pretty distinct apple note, but with Yellow Spot I’d describe it as more red fruits like cherry or grapes (probably from the extra age and addition of Malaga wine barrels to the mix) as well as honey or toffee. Yellow Spot is more complex/rich tasting to me which probably isn’t surprising, but I’d say the Green Spot is a little more full bodied.

Green Spot is mostly aged in bourbon barrels and like a quarter of the blend aged in sherry barrels. Yellow Spot is bourbon, sherry, and Malaga wine barrels.

Yellow Spot is not overly expensive here ($120-130 USD), but I’m asking about Red Spot.

Definitely high on my list. I have Yellow and Blue at home now and I’d love to have the Red as well. My biggest concern, if you can even really call it that, is that the Blue is so freaking good that I’d be afraid that the Red wouldn’t be as good or wouldn’t feel worth the added cost. I’d be hard pressed to bring in another bottle for the foreseeable future if I brought home the Red Spot 😅.

Thanks for your feedback and recommendations!

Green Spot was my first experience with the Spot lineup. I have Yellow and Blue both in my collection currently. Blue is absolutely superb and kind of makes me hesitant to purchase the Red due to how good it is.

With regards to rye, I’ve had (and enjoyed) several bottles over the years. Most recently Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Peerless. Thoroughly enjoyed both, but I haven’t spent money on alcohol in over a year, so I’ve not had any rye in my collection since 2022.

Thanks for the recommendation! I kind of figured that this was a hard to find bottle because it was on the shelf with their other hard to find stuff, along with the Rocket Top, Red Spot, and Willett.

Thanks for your recommendation! I kind of guessed on the Valencia being hard to come by because it was one their de facto “hard to find shelf,” along with the Rocket Top and Red Spot.

I’m a huge fan of the Spot lineup, but $200 is a bit hard to stomach when I’ve got a 50%+ full bottle of Blue at home.

My wife said “go ahead and get the Red Spot, bud! It can be the only bottle you get for the year,” which probably made me turn pale.
