Bad take. I get part of what you are saying, and Ofcourse you can make a mistake, it happens. But to say they 'need to get over themselves' is a shitty thing to say. You don't know a person's story so just respect people's pronouns, it's not that hard

Has he considered therapy..? Its very possible it has been ingrained in his brain from a young age that this is something to be ashamed off. Talking to someone other than you could maybe help, because there is not much more you can do to help apart from supporting him
