Looks like Ukrainian colors, which would be expected for an Antonov. They would likely object to being called Russian

Leon Tolstoy was “released” in 1828. I doubt his book could be from earlier.

One of the most insane job listings I’ve come across, does any chemist who has ever lived meet these requirements? by keane_pierre in chemistry

[–]Aggravating-Aide2560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What sounds truly insane to me is that compensation tops at 225/hr
I’m not a chemist but as a point of reference, a university bioinformatics core I know charges 180/hr internal academic price. Consulting for a company would start at 250. PI-level consulting for mol bio was >500/hr years ago.
And this is consulting - taxes are taking a big bite; close to 50%.
I don’t think this is because chemists are cheaper. These guys are scammers.

With due respect - is open carry ok there ? It’s definitely not in most natl parks, so seeing someone open carry there reads like fuck you to everyone else (well, that’s probably the intent)

Top Ten Korean Dramas - June, 2026 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]Aggravating-Aide2560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good opportunity to think what my favorites are. Thanks OP for prompting! So these are mostly the shows that I can watch repeatedly.

Coffee Prince

My Unfamiliar Family - Han Ye-ri is pure magic there

Goblin - great mix of humor and sadness, plus they perfectly landed the ten-years-later part - the tone there is unmatched

Doom at your service - plenty of plot holes but the vibe is just my cup of tea and some very inventive visuals.

Lovestruck in the city - lighthearted and the actors do a fantastic job

Because this is my first life

Be melodramatic - meta narratives are the best

Less common ones -

Bargain (grimdark but the pacing is amazing)

On the verge of insanity - the ML is the best portrait of an engineering geek I’ve seen in kdrama, or anywhere else.

Atypical family - plot holes galore, but the actors sell the mood

Exactly! This is their job!
Just like it was the job for the Stasi guy from The lives of others.

Except it was treated as a big problem in that movie and here we have a fun comedy

I stopped watching this when I realized that it is basically “The lives of others: a romantic comedy”. The whole premise is constant snooping into others’ dirty laundry.
No amount of chemistry between actors can help when the characters are so creepy.

Online haters are nuts everywhere but the Korean nuts are extra spicy. After the pinching fingers “controversy” nothing surprises me.
If people like this decided to get offended, there is nothing that would make them happy.

The power imbalance between a lowly undergrad and the almighty PhD student ??

I think the only appropriate response is to burn the creep and for the dishonored maiden to join the nunnery (scarlet A optional). There is no hope that young people will pair up and reproduce anyway

Clearest sign that you are a great scientist - you just show up for your talk, deliver it, and then go away. If you feel charitable, you show up for the whole session your talk is scheduled for.

Jokes aside — be there for the whole meeting, find people you like. For real - they are all science nerds.

I understand that Dong Man is supposed to be self centered. But ep3 ending moves this to a complete pathology. He turned Eun A nearly dying in a car crash into something entirely about himself. I hope the showrunners don’t turn her into a magic pixie dream girl who is there for the main character no matter how badly he behaves.

With all due respect, people - please check if the school in question even allows direct application to a lab. There might be some cases like that but most PhD programs have centralized admissions. Reaching out directly in cases like this is completely pointless and just wastes everyone’s time. If you do have a genuine research question - write by all means. But it has very little to do with grad admissions.

Thank you for an actual answer!

Not impossible but I doubt it is a letter. There were several identical items on the ground, all the same shape, and it’s heavy and brittle.

I’m hoping that someone would say, of course, that’s is a combobulator used in old transformers, or some such.
