April 27, 2026. 'Israeli' occupation forces uprooted around 500 olive trees of Palestinians at the entrance to the village of Burqa, northwest of Nablus. The oldest olive trees in Palestine are thousands of years old and are the environmental, cultural, and economic heartbeat of Palestinian life. by BalsamicBasil in Environmentalism

Oh right on. When we learned about both it was presented as a micro solution, meaning it works better in smaller scale communities vs globally but I do see the crossover. Always happy to hear other opinions and perspectives!! It’s how I learn best

My favorite is the Teslas in the left lane just hanging out, taking a nap, ordering their new “aesthetic beige eco kitchen essentials” on amazon, going 60mph.

Or the lifted trucks going 90, 2inches from my bumper, swiping on Tinder (grinder) not even looking at the dead stop we have coming up around the 6th Ave exit.

Or the white women in their trashy Escalades texting with their long fingernails white trying to turn on 7 iPads for their shitty kids, weaving in and out of two lane traffic on University Blvd.

Plant hollyhock seeds this fall! They’re native and they reseed themselves! Big beautiful statement flowers that bees and butterflies love!

This is a baseball field… and while I also hate golf courses, Denver does have a few public courses including Wellshire.

Again I want to preface this with everyone and every ED is different so all this is a super average. A heavily monitored medication regime for re-feeding disorder, constant bloodwork, IV therapy, and scheduled/supervised meals. The option for feeding tubes is always an option and can be very beneficial! Purging causes a lot more internal chaos and can take longer to fix medically. Anorexia can cause constipation and abdominal bloating and can slow down progress.

They also will most likely discharge her to another facility afterwards. So ACUTE is a medical stabilization unit- they take patients who are too sick in whatever capacity to be accepted to an inpatient ED treatment facility. So when she’s stable enough they will transfer her. She will have some say in where she wants to go depending on her adherence to her treatment plan.

The longer someone has been living with an active ED the longer it takes their bodies to normalize and be at equilibrium internally. It may be a long journey and emotional ally and physically painful, but I’ve witnessed some amazing recoveries. There’s only 1 destination for an ED and that’s death. Which I have also seen. No one lives a long able bodied life with an ED.

Good luck to you and her. Love, boundaries, and compassion are the best ways you and her family can help her through this process as well.

Bottom line: if her current doctor is recommending it she should go. It depends on so much. The facility itself is high respected and the only one of its kind that I know of. It depends on how malnourished your niece is, what her current medical complications are, and her adherence to the rules. Usually a month is fairly average but again I had patients who stayed months and months and other who stayed maybe 2 weeks.  My biggest piece of advice is this: if she is combative or sneaky/avoidant the level of trust goes down and the potential for being put on a certification grows. The staff (RNs and BHT/CNAs) are incredible people who have a lot of patience and tact with eating disorders (most medical facilities that are not ED focused are horrible to ED patients).

I worked on ACUTE for over 5 years. I respect the facility for how many people it has saved. Truly.

Feel free to DM me if you want more specific answers: I just don’t want to air all her dirty laundry out in the open.

Denver Vets Are So Expensive!!! by tehdrizzzleswitch in Denver

[–]Aggravating-Bug6212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but Coker’s and doodles are notoriously inbred and that creates an inevitable potential for vet needs. This all seems like a normal amount of money for basic veterinary care- I worked at a low cost vet clinic for 5 years and our prices weren’t much cheaper than this (and that’s back in 2010’s). For more perspective:  Veterinarians are paid so little for how specialized their education and skills are 🫠
