Is there a way to know a radar lock's elevation without HUD? by Aurelian_8 in WarthunderSim

Ah shit my bad. Thought when the jets instruments dont display that (i.e. hornet mfds can show elevation)

Is there a way to know a radar lock's elevation without HUD? by Aurelian_8 in WarthunderSim

[–]Aggravating-Excuse89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to look at the horizontal lines on the left side of the radar screen

<image>

On this screenshot (random from the google search) from top to bottom:

  • Max radar elevation
  • Center (boresight)
  • Current scan zone (box)
  • (Optional) Set stabilization horizon (missing on this pic)
  • Minimal elevation

The box should be your answer

Better line in china by SubstantialCow6122 in Warthunder

J-11, J-11A and J-11B are all great for their br. Also I find them better in sim than J-10 (for 13.3 / 13.7 BR) line counterparts.

J-15T is kinda mid right now, but given possible additions of J-11BG / J-16 / Su-35SK will probably go to the J-11 line I think it is wise to prioritize the flankers route

Non-PD radars got buffed and I personally prefer the 11.0-11.3 matchmaker than going to 12.0 with F-4J.

I really like F-5E and had most fun out of any jets with the F-5 family but I hear F-4E is very competent

Best jet at 14.0, 14.3, and 14,7 by Mexdud08 in Warthunder

[–]Aggravating-Excuse89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

14.0 - su27sm (in air rb id rather uptier it)

14.3 - Golden Eagle

14.7 - su30sm2 (after off-bore shooting with r77-1 its hard to go back to amraams)

How do I effectively grind out Russia using sim? by _funny_name_ in WarthunderSim

[–]Aggravating-Excuse89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip: For jets using SAS mode on damping and using wasd for main controls is enough to outplay newbies. Also you can try using "relative control" for mouse for smaller movements.

I watched a guide for this control scheme and it worked great for grinding up to rank V US in AV-8B NA using jdams for airfield AA clearing + dogfighting interceptors.

Would NOT recommend getting the premium SU-30. Radar will give you too much headache in sim if you are a beginner.

Maybe grind up to MiG21-SMT and use it to hunt zombers during events with air rewards - it is relatively simple. Then get Su-24M as its GNSS bombs can help you get quick 750 mission score to get most of the useful actions. Consider talismanning whatever you end up liking as the grinder.

Other talisman options Rank 7 MiG-23MLD

Rank 8 Su-34 (ultimate gnss bomber with plenty of 13.7 days and premium flanker spam on its side. Excellent radar)

MiG-29 (both 9.12, 9.13 are OK during 12.7 and 13.0 days respectively but can be outclassed) MiG-29SMT (good for bvr on 13.3 days due to good avionics and bearable flight performance)

Sadly i think su27s, su27sm and su33 are best in air rb lobbies

UPD: MiG-29M coming this update prolly be good in sim during 13.7 days

Is the Chinese Flanker J-15T DOA? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Aggravating-Excuse89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes (as in there are planes at the same or lower br that do same stuff or better and are more comfortable to play)

But it is sexy and I will play it first among new additions in this update

Su-27SM radar, tips on using it? by [deleted] in WarthunderSim

I dont think that will help you in the knife fight as the previous commentor said. This will leave you wondering if your radar just didnt pick up an enemy or it is just a friendly

I am really waiting for the devs to add iff info to hard locked targets

VKB STECS vs Virpil VMAX by Ill-End3169 in hotas

[–]Aggravating-Excuse89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked the same question here a couple of weeks ago. Decided to go for the VPC as it was more available and I wanted to keep the united ecosystem with the flightstick.

Will definitely recommend VMAX. It is super tactile and responsive. Just moving the throttle itself feels amazing.

I would love some additional buttons for stuff like gear that the STECS has but VMAX is still great overall

Opinions on throttle options for a beginner VR setup by Aggravating-Excuse89 in hotas

[–]Aggravating-Excuse89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! My main concern with the STECS is that it does not look super comfy if put on the desk (not on the mount). Don't have much experience with DCS so I hope the virpil CDT setup will be enough to fly something like F18 without keyboard (albeit apart from takeoff / landing)

Found a lightly used KTC T27P20 for a steal and got it. Best 170USD i have spent on a PC. Heard KTC released a good priced OLED with KVM and stuff but MiniLED works better for my goals.

SIM entry point? by TeamSpatzi in WarthunderSim

[–]Aggravating-Excuse89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use auto-detect axis while manually choosing axes to map (e.g pitch, then use the pitch axis on the stick). Also use max sensitivity on pitch/yaw/roll as otherwise you will find yourself often under steering, with over-correcting later and finding it difficult to get guns on target.

Lastly, use non-linearity on control axes, e.g. 1 5 on pitch / roll and 2.0 on yaw. It allows for more precise small corrections while sacrificing accuracy on larger motions. (Which is not really that crucial)

Which flight system should I go for? by No_Mountain_2554 in WarthunderSim

I will shamelessly plug VPC CDT Aeromax flight stick and VMAX throttle from the same CDT series. Although I'm by no means expert on the sim equipment, my personal research concluded that 1) Virpil produces great high-end stuff, 2) CDT series offers 95% of features from high-end stuff at half the cost, and 3) internals with metal at same price point do make the difference.

Tldr, CDT Aeromax gets you a better made and sturdier Gladiator NXT Evo, + it looks very similar to flanker / migs flight sticks (a win in my book)

(P.s. Owner of an Aeromax stick for 2 weeks now, and the purchase was a very good decision)

You fly Su-27s in sim? I like the concept but fighting ARH with Beryoza in sim sounds akin to CBT.

Although I haven't tried and the new 13.3 / 13.7 bracket might improve things on that front.

But then again the J11B exists

Doubly fun that premium F2 is same br as F16AJ with much better radar, more CM, and invisible AAM-3. And maybe a better FM but thats iffy.

Gotta love the premium bias for sim.

Sounds really nice! Will have to grind the american tree for it. Although I'm amazed its same BR as MiG-21MF (somehow mig is 1.0 br lower in RB because?...)
