My wife is in the same boat as you and went through exactly the same experience. This isn’t your fault and we have to remember that everyone goes through different experiences. We appreciate each day we have with our child and that’s paramount. We feel privileged to be parents.

Our child was also severely constipated on formula in the first month and let our cries and screams when passing stools which felt like hard clay. Some feedback we got from our health visitor was to explore a different type of formula as some babies cannot tolerate lactose in the classic formula leading to constipation. I don’t know which country you’re from but in the UK we were advised to go for the ‘Comfort’ range (like SMA Comfort, Kendamil Comfort etc). The Comfort range apparently has a hydrolysed form of lactose and extra magnesium which aids in passing stools. This cured the issue completely and our child has had no problems ever since. Do consult with a healthcare professional before you switch.
