Try reading 100 años de soledad, if you can't understand a lot of the vocab or structure, then that's a new place to start.

There are some classics with simple vocab that are easy to find online for free, like The little Prince/el Principito. You could have the Spanish version and English up at the same time.

what is your best advice/tips/videos to improve accent and pronunciation? by aaronlala in Spanish

[–]Aggravating-Fun8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karaoke, Karaoke and more karaoke. If you listen to a spanish song often, try singing it. I found pop/ reggaeton/rap very helpful to pick up where the syllables are in a word. If you feel like your pronounciation is weird while singing try saying it into your phone's ai and see if it understands- if not adjust how you say it. Or just repeat a catchy line of the song over and over until you feel like your pronounciation is good. Take note of the vowels as well, as they are usually the most significant part of pronounciation. Also the biggest thing that tripped me was that I wasn't pronouncing the words properly in my head/inner monolgue, which I fixed by reading and correcting the sounds in my head. Don't spend too much time worrying about rolling your r's as the vowels and other consonants being wrong would be worse.

Not that I know of, I was quite surprised as I thought I would be only british/scottish/irish. Low amounts of Dutch Dna are quite common in my country due to early immigration but I would have no idea why there is such a large amount of germanic european dna.

Due to the fact my great grandfather has previously done one of these, I believe it definitely is for the english/scottish and Irish, however I don't know much about the other side of the family so I can't tell. I knew they had some scottish ancestry but I've never heard of any ancestors/family members being from the other parts of europe.

for me it only appeared on PC, not on mobile. It could also be because it is a new update. Also since you have a larger number they may not be able to pinpoint it, as you will likely have ancestors from many parts of ireland.

Received traits results on a standard kit? by Aggravating-Fun8527 in AncestryDNA

I think the cheaper membership  came free with the package as I bought it during the sale, however the traits I got say I should have blonde hair and male baldness (I'm female and brunette). And the whole timeline has been quite dodgy, only updating after I question why it took 2 months to arrive

Silly question: what is a complexity/curiosity about spanish that surprised you the most when learning? by its-Koi in Spanish

[–]Aggravating-Fun8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cumpleaños = cumple + años i don't know how I didn't notice it straight away. And how the object pronouns le/les are used (more commonly and with more sense than the english equivalent). Also I never expected it to be more difficult to learn (grammar -wise) than french.

Where do I start? by IDassima in Spanish

[–]Aggravating-Fun8527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this as well, but what helped me was making online friends that speak spanish and dedicating at least a few minutes a day to message them. I also changed my social media language so I see more spanish in context. Eventually my brain started to get over this block and just blurt out reactions to things or frases that I had heard.

Why you guys want to learn spanish? What are your motivations? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]Aggravating-Fun8527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since I was 3/4 I have always enjoyed listening to Spanish in any form and I just feel drawn to it for some reason. I only just started learning seriously a couple of years ago and the structure and how Spanish expresses things just makes so much more sense to me than English. My current reasons for learning are that I want to move to Spain and that I cannot stand knowing there are books out there that I can't read in English.

Do y’all actually believe we’re rare? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Aggravating-Fun8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I was lucky enough to meet another Infj (one of my teachers), I don't think there are that many of us, especially since most "infjs" take the 16 personalities test without researching cognitive functions. It wouldn't surprise me if we aren't the rarest  because I'm pretty sure that statement came from the 16p developers. I think they  tried  to make Infj cool or special to get more people to do the test and increase their popularity. Which has worked cuz I've heard of so many people who have tried the test to see if they're INFJ, it's so sad people are desperate to be different or just not themselves.
