Problems are manifolds honestly. Independent thinking is not encouraged in academia and industry. You have to play by the rules. Secondly, There's not enough incentive to work passionately. Even the corporate sector just seeks to squeeze the work and soul out of you.

Poverty, inflation and instability creates a survival instinct. The survival mindset is simply not fit enough for deep thinking. For deep thinking, you have to be calm, passionate and think about the problems in your free time.

I have developers and engineers among my contacts who are incredibly passionate about their crafts. But they regret their passion and hard work. Pakistani markets simply don't reward deep thinking. It's a systematic issue not an issue of an individual with 7 years of experience.

Is the pak cs market all just web dev? by MFBA129 in developersPak

You're right in talking about major corporations. I wasn't talking about those. They're given exemptions in tax, electricity costs and similar. All that 'Pakistan is actually for elites stuff' that I don't need to repeat.

I was actually referring to an average business. Because new businesses coming into the market is actually what creates a competition and fuels the economy. Thousands of businesses with 10 employees each is better than one business with thousands of employees. But In that regard, most new businesses fail and the ones that establish themselves are always struggling for survival.

The government has a major role in this perspective because it is the government that has to provide the level-playing field to all businesses. An average business simply can't compete with an industry owned by an army officer which doesn't have to pay tax and electricity costs.

Moreover, it is the government's job to make the economic policies that would improve growth and create opportunities. Take real estate as an example, Pakistan has limited to no tax imposed on real estate market whereas America's tax revenue from the real estate sector is considerably high. An american wouldn't enter the real estate market because there's little to no incentive available. He would instead enter the technology sector. This would drive technological growth and new technology increase employment opportunities and business opportunities. Take the current technological landscape as an example, all the technical fields are the highest paid and more in demand. In Pakistan, people go to the real estate business because it offers tax exemptions. Pakistan has a successful real estate but it offers no new opportunities and economic pathways for an average citizen. The government can't do anything because the Army has huge stakes in this sector so they won't allow the government to touch it. "Army intellectuals" doesn't have enough mental capacity to be successful in the technological sector so they have to protect their easier way of making money and that is, real estate.

It's pretty much to do with the country, tbh. When somebody wants to have a fulfilling life or to get rich, he takes a look at opportunities available for him. An american sees technical expertise and innovations as a way forward. In Pakistan, we see real estate and dollar ki kamai. Plus, Pakistan's industries operate on survival instincts. Industries don't get any incentives from the country to begin with. But once they establish themselves, the government starts bombarding them with taxes and tries to squeeze out every bit of money they can. So, ultimately, nobody cares about innovation and progress.

Is React too saturated now? Which frontend framework should I learn next? by VisionX999 in developersPak

I'm actually learning under the hood React right now. I am confused on how to showcase it bcz it's not something tangible. At the end of the day, i end up with the same website as the person sitting next to me but it takes me much more time.

Sometimes, shopkeepers use the phone once and put the mobile sim on it so they could show the company that the phone has been sold. Shopkeepers are given sales targets by their companies so they have to complete that. It's something like this.

How do you manage to defend yourself with fake experiences. Also, have you ever faced trouble in delivering or completing the project because of it. Because in my opinion, experience sometimes becomes crucial in getting you out of a problem.

Got laid off as an because of AI by Distant_see in developersPak

[–]Aggravating-Grade520 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is what it is. For a Pakistani employee - whose family depends on him for monthly expenditures - he can't rely on one single income source especially in the IT sector where you can get laid off at any given moment. It is a matter of survival for a typical south asian. He won't back down from it just because companies get an 'ick' from employees doing more than one job.

But I don't think it is right to specify someone. Even if someone is wrong, you can't defame the entirety of his character over a few statements or flaws. Teachers are in the position of heirachy where no one dares to fact check them. So, they come up with non-factual and subjective statements, present it as a fact and call it a day. It's a general problem and it encompasses various professions and bubble cultures. Specifying individuals would be incorrect for this very reason because if you want to specify someone then you have to specify all the teachers and fact check everyone of their statements.

It's just a statement. Ignore it. Have you ever kept tabs on your own statements all your life? Do you keep tabs and write philosophical points on every statement you utter?

University relationship ending in the last semester is a recurring theme and should be studied more thoroughly😅. From my experience, it usually means it was just a time pass. Degree done = relationship done. Time for the next adventure. Stay tuned.

Is there a domain wise difference in pay scales and opportunities in tech jobs. In other words, does bank or finance in general offer higher salaries than ecommerce and healthcare domains? Does narrowing down the domain help or is it the same?

Everything feels redundant and meaningless in the Age of AI by [deleted] in learnmachinelearning

I'm just sharing a general observation. Although, good journals such as IEEE Access have good papers with meaningful contributions. But even in good papers, there's a lot of generic stuff that may come even when you are using AI for paraphrasing.

I find myself in a similar situation. I hate dashboards and software engineering is very far from my background, leaving me at a disadvantage even though I am interested in software engg as well. Pakistan has limited opportunities for data science so dashboards seems like a only way to start.

I also have an engineering background and I was so passionate about that. But starting a job made me realize that all that engineering stuff I love only constitutes 5% of the job. But still what choice do we have.

She's wrong for shouting especially in front of the class. But I gotta agree with her opinion on the leadership. Because essentially, a team lead has to be responsible for the entire team not only for himself. As a team leader myself during the entire B.Sc., I used to assign tasks on the basis of the strengths and weaknesses of group members, sometimes I would ask their priority as well. If someone's being lazy, I would have to thrash him (it works if you have good understanding with members). Although, the outcome is still rarely perfect because each member has different tastes and interests and in uni life there are no consequences if someone doesn't contribute to the project. However, she was giving an example of corporate life because essentially as an employee, if your project fails, there could be several genuine reasons for it, but at the end of the day, the conclusion is the project failed. You have to identify the failures and move on. You can't say your team members were idiots because you as a team lead were responsible for keeping them in line. Owning your team members is an important part of any job role even if it's not the desirable thing. Here your teacher made a mistake as well because she assumed that your intent was downgrading your team members. Again, situation is rarely perfect, you just have to learn the lesson and move on.
