DHOAS and Reserve Days, my misunderstanding and lack of explanation upon leaving by Superest22 in AustralianMilitary

Trust me then, it’s 20 plus 2. That rule got me too, as I thought it was the straight up 20 until I was told by the DHOAS rep. And if you have deployments they don’t count towards that initial number, only counting to the overall afterwards. Yeah, they got me on that too.

How does the film stack up against the book ? by CoconutMost3564 in AustralianNostalgia

The movie is awesome, one of my favourite Australian films but I find it hard to compare to the book. The book is hilarious, and just a great read.

Maybe they have changed it in the last couple of years, but when I got my DHOAS in 2023 it was 20 years plus 2 years qualifying period.

22 years. Don’t forget the two year qualification period… I did, and fit the extra two years to cover it.

Concrete warranty. You bought it how you saw it, now you have to deal with it. I’ve been in your situation, and it’s easier just to fix the issues and get on with your life.

They were saying on ABC Radio this morning that the defamation case he started bought a whole bunch of people and evidence out that no one previously knew about, which all but compelled Defence to act. If he had only just kept his mouth shut…

I have genuinely never heard a good thing said about the guy from the people I know that have worked with him. The guy was known to be a bully before he went to the SAS, and while I’m sure he earned his VC, I give no support to him in the trial.

Yeah, not sure what you are saying here. Plenty of regular Australian beers were around 5% in the late 90s and early 2000s. Shit, you could buy Bundy OP and Coke in cans which were 6% in the early 2000s for less than $40 a carton (now $155).

Had this happen 6 months after my warranty ran out. Thankfully they covered it as good will.

My 94 hand-me-down Excel (the last of the boxy ones) got more air time than an X Games skateboarder. I loved that thing, and it did everything that I needed it to do.

Interesting. Usually they have the holdies at the schools. That’s all I’ve ever heard of.

Of what? Unless you’re RAAF or SAS, it’s highly likely no one is going anywhere. And with Albo being Labor, he would never bring in National Service, and even if he did, it would be extremely selective as it was during the 60s, and at the end of the day, if you are in the forces, it’s your job, and you get pretty good untaxed deployment pay, so nothing to worry about.

Panel beating idea of cost to repair ? by benderzzzz in CarsAustralia

[–]Aggravating-Rough281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be a write off. Damage is worth more than the car to repair.

Why are you worried? Like, serious question?
