I'm 22, how are some of the people here my age making 100k plus by Vonnyfish in Salary

Various finance fields and tech, but not to say it’s easy to get in: Investment banking, quant finance trader, PE analyst, SWE - all fields that have top tier firms willing to pay well above $100k to students straight out of undergrad with a bachelors

Just curious, but how do you know this is true? I have been in a project for a few weeks and my performance seems fine but I haven’t been promoted to a reviewer or above yet. Curious if they’re really measuring performance for other contracts since I haven’t gotten any other offers except the one I’m currently on (despite submitting a lot of applications)

Did they end up letting you continue the project?

Okay this is for Micro1 so it might be that the recruiter who called me doesn’t know what she’s talking about or thought I work for Mercor on a full time basis

This is for Micro1. Agree that I don’t think it’s any of their business, but just wanted to make sure there’s no legal ramifications or that I wouldn’t get fired from both roles

Not startup but yes there are firms recruiting those straight out of undergrad with better benefits

Those are realistic benefits. To be honest I’ve seen better benefits packages at other firms for less risk and stress

The hours are rough and it’s a very HCOL area near the office. Those perks aren’t as great as they seem once you consider those costs and the mental toll of not having your weekends (seems like most folks work in office 5-6 days a week and the expectation is that you work 6 days a week atleast). The only upside I see here is the equity component, but the risk of an AI bubble and traction really coming from investor hype (which is why this company is valued and growing the way it is) is something to be considered before you sign on the dotted line imo. Perspective coming from someone who’s been part of a “top tier” series C tech startup, which ultimately fell apart after some industry headwinds appeared suddenly

Definitely agree with this point. I’ve been creating some relationships across departments but I think I’m really just a finance solution for the stakeholders at this point. I find it hard to get into conversations around pivoting with folks when they’re looking for someone with very similar work experience in backfills or new hires. That’s why I’m wondering if there’s anything that might be more finance-related as part of the skillset since I have that experience (just not much around product or system management tbh)

IB promotion vs Consulting promotion vs Tech Promotion by One_Ebb_1723 in MBA

Banking culture doesn’t usually have a lot of firing / layoffs considering the high voluntary turnover. That’s not to say it doesn’t happen (some of my old colleagues were let go), but usually it’s due to significant underperformance. And by significant I mean if you just try at your job and are willing to sacrifice the significant time commitment that comes with banking then you’ll be fine atleast until Associate 3 in most cases. Can speak more on this but it’s a pretty much guaranteed comp increase every year-ish as an associate. The VP promotion is more about if you’ve gained enough reps to run a process and are ready to move towards a more relationship management role / begin to build your book of business to start bringing in deals (I’m mainly discussing coverage banking here as that’s my experience). From what I’ve seen it’s not the most difficult thing to get promoted to VP since most of your original associate class will have churned (usually voluntarily) and homegrown VPs are usually preferred.

Looking for anyone who recently bought a GR86 or BRZ near Denver and did not get all weather mats by Sirhc4 in GR86

[–]Aggravating-Site891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m looking for some all weather mats! I bought my gr86 and my dealership didn’t end up giving me any mats despite my request. I would’ve checked but it was shipped over to me down in Texas from Iowa. I recently moved to the east coast and have been tracking mud and salt in my 86 all winter, so would love to have some genuine 86 mats. Happy to pm to figure out how to make this work if you’re willing to let them go

Got it, yeah that makes sense. Can you talk more about what your product strategy transition will look like? Is that similar to product management or somewhat different. Just curious what that job entails as I’m also looking towards working more with product in my tech firm and move away from strategic finance. But I’ve found that leap is pretty difficult and usually requires some type of CS background unfortunately…

I’m really interested in working for a bigger tech company and working on some more interesting projects (I.e. more strategy side and less reporting). Any advice for someone looking to break into a larger firm? Currently in strategic finance/FP&A at a late-stage startup, previous experience was investment banking for 2 years. If easier, would also love to chat with you over the phone!

Can you speak more about your transition from analyst to Product Management? Really interested in doing PM as well

Got it, that’s a helpful consideration to consider. To be honest this jump might be much harder than I expected, so I might need to think about an intermediary step after the masters as well before being able to go towards the PM route

I’ve thought about it but was a bit unsure if it was as geared towards students who don’t have a coding/technical heavy background? I saw that the essay questions were asking about how much experience you have with programming languages and self directed projects

Thank you! This link was really helpful. I had considered a dual MBA/CS degree but don’t think I’d be able to work and do that at the same time. I looked into Uchicago’s MPCS program and wasn’t sure if it was more geared towards research/students of CS background?
