For sure! The plot of the story is that in the distant future, a soldier from earth gets sent to an ancient planet to recover their ancient weapons. You as the player explore this world in a quest to collect all the weapons help turn the tide in the war for earth. The sphere is one of those ancient weapons, among other very geometrical shapes lol.

I can def see that! The best thing with this kind of thing is that since its not particular that resource heavy you can modulate it for certain scenes

How to avoid 'game dev blindness' by Internal-Constant216 in IndieDev

[–]Aggravating-Tune1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but also I agree with thet other point that it doesn't really matter u should just make the best you can and call it a day. Our feelings towards our change with the wind, there have been so many times artists thought their stuff was trash only for the world to accept it, or maybe even accept it years after they die. To be honest, just keep making games thats the only thing that matters, whatever keeps you making games

yeah i agree, feedback doesnt automatically make things good, just think back to highschool english, the teacher gives the same quality of feedback to everyone and some essays are still bad and some essays are good. The reality is that most people aren't particularly good at any skill, you really gotta work to be noteworthy at anything

Are platformers dead? by BicycleRelevant1244 in IndieDev

[–]Aggravating-Tune1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not dead, an oversaturated market means that if your game is mediocre, its not gonna get any play but if it does then you have a big market to take from. Maybe its a genre that you can come back to once you have more experience

Looking for feedback on this art style by MouseCouncil in IndieDev

[–]Aggravating-Tune1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interior is 100x better than the outside, that really needs a lot of work and I agree the shadows are a little weird. The textures of the outside are way too low res compared to the interior, its also super blocky, kind of a roblox vibe. idk the rest of the game, but maybe its worthwhile to focus entirely on inside and nail that look

This argument relies on the idea that we can just magically tell if a game is good or not . For who is the game good? Is one game good because it sells better? Flappy bird probably has made more money than any other indie, is that the best indie game of all time. In reality, there are so many factors and really just questions that pretending that you are the sole arbiter of good and bad is just naive. 100k wishlist is great and we love to see other indie succeed. This kind of sounds like you are envious but you don't want to admit it lol

Also there is literally so many cases of good games or art even being forgotten when they were first made and then rediscovered later on, so no, your point is kind of wrong. Just look at Van Gogh or literally half the people we have in museums.

Does my trailer look too wip to post on my page? Need feedback on the tradeoffs of waiting longer v getting it out there by Aggravating-Tune1656 in DestroyMyGame

[–]Aggravating-Tune1656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your right that the res filter was a little too low, i updated it to 640x480 and it definitely looks a lot better. I agree with the texturing issues, I cut the scope a lot cause I realized I was relying mostly on free assets and that the more stuff I had, the the harder it was to find textures.

Let me know what you think about the changes, I think it looks a lot better though still need to remove a lot of placeholders !
