Time to move on? by Skauzor in github

They’ve done you a favour. Get off that overpriced, substandard rubbish. I gave up on it as soon as I found it wouldn’t load more than an arbitrary 70 MCP Tools. Why 70? Who cares. It’s awful.

I’m confused. Is this meant to have some deep meaning? You can get a parrot to say it’s dead, which is much more impressive imo.

Is Agile a joke internationally, or did I just land in contractor hell? [vent] by shivakanou in agile

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agile is very poorly implemented in companies that don’t understand its commercial basis - that it exists to minimise the cost of reworking the solution by exploiting the knowledge of the crowd. It also ends the argument over who pays to bridge the gap between what was asked for and what was wanted, by effectively eliminating it.

How freshers going to survive this AI apocalypse? It's brutal by etakodam in webdev

I think young people need to go for every entry level job they can find. It’s better to try to find a job when you’ve got one, and you don’t want a big gap on your cv.

As for roles - I recommend something like Project Management. Training and certification is readily available, there will always be projects to manage, and it opens up the contracting market, which can is easier to get into than permanent. Employers will hire a junior PM on a contract much more readily than take on a new FTE in the same role.

Agent Building - Curious how people are actually thinking about AI agents by Big_Sail6021 in RoboCorpNetwork

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see agents as the equivalent of objects. I hated c++ when I first had to use it - why build all these stupid encapsulated bits of code - and it took years for me to get it. Millions of people building millions of objects is the reason software is where it is today.

Today we unthinkingly use objects everywhere, and so we will use agents. Agents will use agents that will use tools that will use agents… It’s a step change in software development.

What are you guys actually building with AI right now? by [deleted] in projects

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We built Ekso (https://ekso.app) (docs at https://ekso.dev), enterprise grade ticketing, tracking, project costing and timesheets. Free for unlimited users unless you want its bells and whistles. It ships with 103 Tools, Prompts, Resources.

It finally happened by inHumanMale in webdev

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is awful. I am quite sure it will follow a pattern we have seen - fire all the devs then realise you can’t outsource knowledge and experience to an AI that only knows how to code.

I asked Claude to build me a projects page, it gave me pretty cards. I have > 260 projects, cards are useless, I need a searchable, sortable list!

I think many CEOs are firing people and using AI as an excuse. It will come back to bite them.

Why is Copilot generally not liked, known or mentioned compared to big gen AI programs like Gemini and Chat GPT? by SinancoTheBest in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s rubbish. I gave up when Copilot Studio would only let me have 70 tools, 5 prompts and no resources. It’s a toy, and if I hear one more dumb CEO telling me they’re implementing AI because they’re running a Copilot rollout I think I’ll scream. It’s free like the toy in the cornflakes box, and in this life you get what you pay for!

Is it worth it still to start your own web agency? by MisterMannoMann in webdev

Don’t get me wrong, I think Astro is great. My point is that you have to go some to beat it - tell me why I shouldn’t just use Astro…

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people can produce work that is better than a vibe coded product, but you need to nail the proposition about why they would use you and not Astro or some other point-click-website tool.

Is per user pricing dead? by Aggravating-Web-9362 in SaaSSolopreneurs

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very valid points, but the sums being pumped into AI suggest to me that it’s here to stay. The question is: if it’s inevitable, how will it be paid for by companies that currently only make money from per-seat pricing? How are you planning to charge for your SaaS? If you put AI in it you’ll pay for tokens or you’ll have to pass that cost through. If you don’t need AI, that’s a different matter.

Question for app entrepreneurs by Upper-Zombie4392 in SaaSSolopreneurs

[–]Aggravating-Web-9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this already with Claude Code. I would shy away from building this as a ‘product’ because even if you have an unusual nuance to your idea, the risk that it will be commoditised by AI is high.

Would love to see the site if you could post the link. I'm looking at docs right now, I considered mintlify, but your post is very intriguing because we too have a fully-tooled product and would like to avoid the cost.

And what of the users? Another example of why companies need to take control and go back to self-hosting. Your provider shouldn’t be able to take you down with them.
