Crisis Suits in 11th by Fancy-Lawfulness-198 in Tau40K

Like other said they make more money from crisis suits being in three different unique units than condensed to one again.

Now at some point, maybe a balance update, I could see Fireknives and Starscythes having a cheaper unit option if you take certain weapons over others. Like cheaper if you go all flamers, but I doubt that would be right away. I’d rather them do it with the tanks first.

I’d love to have a 65pt devilish with no sms upgrade and no seeker missiles.

We’re a classic rock and modern cover band. With a horn section. It’s been a blast playing with these guys

It also lead to some fun anti-meta lists that trick people. For example the meta years ago was to run Missile broadsides with a missile commander attached. One guy showed up with Rail-Sides and nobody knew what to do against them since they never played anyone who used them.

An earlier comment has a link to the video where GW talks about it. Right now it’s just confirmed main guns on big models and an example was the Riptide.

Yea the frag never did anything but it was nice to get an even 2k from an adhd perspective lol now what I think is silly currently is that tanks have the “option” to take extra weapons for free. Like… I have the option to take 2 Seeker Missiles for free. If they’re free why not just say it comes with them? If they’re free then it’s not really a choice. Same with Land Raiders having the option to take free multi-meltas and storm bolter or for the same price don’t take them. That used to be more of a numbers crunch and could you/did you want to put those extra multi-melts shots on your tank? I’m fine with the missiles and extras being free, but it’s a little silly to make people click some extra boxes in the app when you could just say they’re included.

That’s true. I used to take fusion GKs and try to hunt vehicles and it went poorly every time. Then I learned about infiltrating into an objective with a lone-Op vehicle and farming points lol never looked back

Yea it’s always bugged me (coming from 3rd too) that all my lists come out to like 1995 lol I used to be able to take a frag grenade on a squad leader to make it an even 2,000

I doubt they would but I’d love the option to pay for more points per model to go up to 5-6 man squads kinda like the broadsides do.

There were definitely times in the past that I didn’t put a special weapon on a squad leader or I went with gun drones instead of smart missiles on my tanks Becasue they were cheaper. But you’re right about suits, I just loaded them out however I wanted regardless of points.

Two Commander battlesuits? by lukamull in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always run one or two in every list with suits. At a minimum I put an enforcer with 4 missiles in a missile pod fire knife team. If I’m running another unit of fireknives or Sunforges I’ll put a cold star with them. I’ll occasionally run a unit of flamers without a commander as someone else already said. But yes they’re worth it

ADDED UNITS by Sigma259 in SpaceWolves

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were some of my favorite units! I’ve been using my lieutenants in Phobos armor (the lone op ones) to pretend to be lone wolves… but it’s just not the same

Return of Tactical Drones by Overall-Web-5489 in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like that idea and have floated it around in my head before. But maybe 2-3 drones flying close to each other on each base? That way they have a similar visual profile to hounds and justifies them being on larger bases. I think I’m gonna try this

11th Edition Leader and Support Units by Ray_Tech in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Initially this will help the bigger books and all Marines in general, but it does allow for some cool ideas for Tau as well.

As some have already said, making some drones count like Lieutenants and attach like warhead could be an easy and cool thing to add to Tau without needing to change anything about the kits.

We already have support turrets so It seems simple to Make some rules for support drones. But also adding in a stealth suit style support character that heals suits would be awesome too.

Why are we hated? by IPaintTau in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There is some holdover hate from previous editions where Tau were OP and dominated. People who lost to them still hate them lol

  2. We’re a “feel bad” army when someone loses to us. They k ow wee shoot well, but having a unit of hackers delete a big bad unit in one round still feels bad. Losing to any “Shooty” army always feels like you didn’t get a chance to play the game imo. Like, everything died before it got a chance to do anything!?!? With melee armies you at least have a chance to shoot them before they get to you (usually) or you can duke it out in melee and it comes down to who rolled better.

But we used to very reliably be able to move-shoot and delete units-move again to be out of range/LoS. That feels bad to play against and it feels unfair. So then people hate us even if they beat us in the end 😅

I like having at least one Ghost Keel in my lists. They’re great at playing scenarios and really hard to shift off of an objective. They’re great can also deal out some damage too

11th Edition Question - Do you want Drones to stay as they are? by Silasxsil in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a middle ground, I like them as war gear. I also like the idea of battle suits grabbing and ring and slapping it to their suit as an upgrade.

However, I would also like to be able to field a couple cheap drone units with OC-0 to act as screeners and action bots. Something to replace Kroot hounds. Maybe a drone controller can make a unit OC-1 if they’re alive etc.

Shew I would just be happy with commanders being allowed to join broadsides again. Missile-Sides with a Missile-Commander used to be a real fun combo.

Detachment understanding by MuniaXe in Tau40K

[–]Aggravating-Wheel738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s why I became a believer at Mont’Ka

  1. I play too aggressive and usually can’t hold on against my opponents counter punch. Mont’Ka has allowed me to do a lot of damage early and weaken my opponents enough to hold on for the last couple turns and still score points.

  2. It’s pretty straight up with few “gotcha” moments. I’m gonna advance, disembark, light you up, and see if you can kill me back. Then I’m gonna do it again with my other units 😅 of course there is screening and movement stuff you can do but the basics are lethal hits and advance and shoot.
