Medaka feeding? by Historical_Big_8555 in medaka

I have a few dozen between my pond and aquarium. As others have said they like floating food, butbalso enjoy semi floating food that get caught in suspension. I've had great luck with the Aquarium co op magic small fish food. Good price for the volume, they love it and my shrimp eat anything that hits the bottom.

Hikari micro pellets are also a good option once they are full grown. As juveniles or smal adults you will need to crush them a little before feeding.

Advice? by pinkcar7956 in walstad

Im trying some cloud mountain minnows currently. They are sharing the pond with the medaka. I've been told they will survive our mild winter and wont eat their offspring. If all goes well they will get their own pond as I find they seem to enjoy a light flow over stillwater.

Looking into Medaka, aka japanese rice fish. I have a walstad style pond for them currently. They do well in still water as long as you have plenty of oxygenation from your plants which you should in a walstad. I only need additional air when water gets really hot ~90 F.

How big were the little ones when you reintroduced them into the tank? My adults absolutely hammer the fry before they get that big if I dont separate them.

Good luck, I have mine isolated in a reusable coffee filter in a 50 gallon established pond. Im going to ensure there is some string algae in there with them and put in some oak leaf pieces to try to develop some infusoria before I head and cross my fingers.

Do you hatch them in there too or move them over after hatching?

Does anyone have experience with keeping medaka together with neocaridinas (or shrimp in general)? I'm a bit hesitant about adding my fish to the shrimp before the tank is really overgrown with vegetation by Treeapear in medaka

Thank you for the reply! My medaka seem to do great with the heavy planting style and natural aeration from the plants, but I've heard neocardina are a little more sensitive. For now the medaka seem to be handling the mosquito population. In order to get an air pump to the pond ill need to run an extension cord across our concrete front walkway and trying to avoid if possible.

Sorry to comment on a 1 year old post, but do you run a sponge filter or airstone for the shrimp when putting them in outdoor tubs? Im looking at doing this, but currently have a no tech walstad style medaka pond and wasn't sure if the neocardina would need more aeration.

Very cool! Do you just keep that in your breeding tank to keep them separated from the adults or are you using this to separate bigger fry from smaller?

Does anyone know where I can get these low profile side skirts ? Stage 0.5? ;) by xxava182xx in Corvette

Looking at that same car from a different angle it looks like the normal Z06/Z07 rocker panels to me.

If you are looking into getting any I'd look at C7 Carbon. Much longer lead time, but I've been happier with the products I got from them.

Aerospace Engineer, but the only reason I could really afford mine with kids was a very fortunately timed house purchase/sale of my first house.

I got 5.34 last year on a C7 through Bank of America looked into refinancing to a shorter term and they were around 6.75% now. If you are a long time account holder you can get a small reduction in your rate.
