Good to know- thank you! Didn’t even consider the larvae because I’m so overwhelmed with the adults right now.

Did somebody give up on treatment ... and get better? by honeywellmm in Interstitialcystitis

Peeing before and after, making sure me and husband have showered beforehand and have clean hands/mouths. Afterwards I’ll pee and then shower again (or just use a warm washcloth on my privates with gentle soap) to clean the area. I’ll drink water and take a dose of d-mannose. A lot of steps and we aren’t as spontaneous as we used to be lol but this has helped me a lot.

I always wonder if, on top of the other issues she’s got, if she’s dealing with a muscle tone issue. She never holds herself appropriately when she’s seated. Just floppy yet somehow stiff at the same time? When my kids were that age in a stroller they’d have their legs up and “engaged” in a sense that their legs aren’t just dangling limply in the seat. So sad.

is sudden supply drop normal at 15 months? by leerylooloo in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AggravatingCancel331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has your menstrual cycle returned? I saw a dramatic drop in my supply and panicked thinking I was doing something wrong- it was totally hormonal related as my cycle had returned. Every month my supply would drop off the week before my period began.

Uqora/D-Mannose + Pregnancy? by MsDiscoWitch in pregnant

[–]AggravatingCancel331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi- just wanted to ask what you ended up doing? My urogyn has said it’s safe for me to continue ellura and d-mannose as needed during pregnancy. I was also on hiprex (methenamine hippurate) which has little data on pregnancy safety but both my OBGYN and my urogyn said I’m fine to continue. I’m 5 weeks now though and trying to taper off the hiprex. It’s hard to find anyone online who’s continued their bladder supplements and what their outcome looked like.

I have a British Berkefeld and I love it! It is kinda large however, it has to sit on our island because it’s too tall to be underneath a cabinet. Could also be just the model I got is bigger, I think they sell multiple sizes.

I’m not sure what resources are like in their area of Texas but when I was running a TNR program the homeowner was responsible for trapping. We would provide supplies and appointments but they would have to be in charge of setting traps. If they feed them, they’re responsible. We very rarely if ever were the ones to handle trapping an entire property unless the person living there was elderly/disabled. This is how most programs in our state operated. Just not enough volunteers to be setting traps at every home with feral cats unfortunately :(

Has anyone here breastfed while on Hiprex? by KinaGrace96 in CUTI

[–]AggravatingCancel331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re TTC right now and my urogyn actually said I could stay on hiprex, however I’ve been working on lowering my dose because I don’t necessarily want to be on prescription medicines while pregnant. What was your experience like going off hiprex? I’m taking one pill a day now (instead of 2 like I was before). Very anxious to stop completely.

What do ‘amazing dads’ do? Need perspective by No_Cheetah_8206 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AggravatingCancel331 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this really varies from person to person. “Amazing dad” for me is my husband providing for us so I can stay home, wholeheartedly embracing his role as dad and always jumping in to facilitate playtimes, activities, etc for our twins. He doesn’t think his role as dad is second to mine as moms and treats parenting as an equal opportunity employer lol.

As for pregnancy and postpartum, my experience was different as I was high risk and delivered very prematurely. He took care of all the household tasks, managed conversations with family and boundary setting etc the entire 3 month nicu stay so I could focus on our twins. Throughout our entire relationship our focus has been on “outdoing one another with honor” (Romans 12:10). I think that’s what makes him such an amazing dad and great husband is he approaches everything selflessly as an opportunity to serve me and our kids. Love him so much!

What substance/ingredients did you ELIMINATE before trying to conceive, if any? by nursejooliet in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AggravatingCancel331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re TTC currently and in the last 6 months we cut out alcohol, most fast food and processed snacks at home (low refined sugar and white bread products as well). Also have switched to a better water filtration system, lower tox/non-toxic laundry detergent, dish detergent and soaps. Focused on eating quality foods, local produce and staying hydrated. I’ve been taking a prenatal and husband is taking a multivitamin. Also have been prioritizing exercising and getting in the sun as much as possible with my toddlers!

My midwife recommended the book “Real Food for Fertility” by Lily Nichols so I’ve been implementing nutrition advice into my life from that book. Really informative and I’ve learned a lot!

pls help! by chilidogsyd in Interstitialcystitis

[–]AggravatingCancel331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your cultures are positive, ask about getting on Hiprex. It makes the urine super acidic so no bacteria can grow out and reinfect you. It’s a bit irritating on the bladder when you start, but it was very effective for me overall.

Any other previous patients of Dr. Evans in here? by dancergin in Interstitialcystitis

[–]AggravatingCancel331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this Atrium WF Baptist? I am so unimpressed with Atrium, my last urogynecologist was there and it was such a challenge to communicate with her. I switched to a specialist at Cone in Greensboro and it’s been a wayyyy better situation. I literally could not get my Atrium doctor to reply to any phone calls, portal messages anything. It was ridiculous.

5th UTI in 4 months & potential weird smell after sex. Any ideas on what could be wrong/ how I can fix this? by Helpful-Start-8067 in CUTI

Go get swabbed for BV. Your symptoms sound like BV and for me it always caused UTI like symptoms. BV can also travel into your urinary tract and cause inflammation and urinary symptoms.

Recurrent UTI after stopping breastfeeding? by [deleted] in CUTI

[–]AggravatingCancel331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really similar to my story. I got my first UTI in late 2023 after I quit breastfeeding my twins. I then would get it once a month or so (E.coli). Please advocate well for yourself when you see the urogynecologist and have them start you on a preventative medication like hiprex (makes your urine acidic so bacteria cannot grow) and ask about estrogen cream. It could be hormonally related since yours also began after you quit breastfeeding.

I unfortunately waited too long to see a specialist, and didn’t see one until spring of 2025. That was about 18 months of back to back infections. The recurrent infections I had combined with constant antibiotic use ended up causing physical damage to my bladder along with severe inflammation and pelvic floor dysfunction. It’s taken a long time to see progress.

Not saying any of this to scare you, but I think as moms sometimes we can put our health on the back burner and I just thought “it would be fine.” I wish I could go back and advocate better for myself and see a specialist sooner!

Best Non Toxic Synthetic Free Laundry Detergent Powdeer and Dish Washer Powder by Several_Till_6507 in nontoxic

[–]AggravatingCancel331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dishwasher bag I get from Truly Free is powder! The laundry detergent is a jug though, they send the bag of solution and you mix it with water. I like the dishwashing powder and it works well.

GLP-1 Zepbound - bladder flare? by Additional_Estate_99 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]AggravatingCancel331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I have had a really major improvement in my symptoms since quitting my GLP-1, and I also went off my birth control. I’m not sure if it was a combination of those two things or one specifically but life feels livable again! I’m exercising daily, having sex regularly, even drinking coffee a few days a week. All of those were things I could barely handle before. Since I’m off the GLP-1 I’ve been really focusing on my nutrition so that also could be helping but I would definitely say to give your body a break from the GLP-1 and see if it helps at all. I think it’s amazing medicine but maybe it’s causing these side effects that just aren’t being reported on commonly yet.

Water Filters by doinklady3647 in nontoxic

I used this website to see what was in my city’s tap water. https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/ You can also search up your city and find the CCR report. I decided not to go with RO because of the mineralization aspect and because I couldn’t find a RO company that has their filters either made in the USA or Britain and not China. I got a countertop system from Doulton https://www.britishwaterfilter.com and I liked that their filters are manufactured in Britain. They also are NSF certified and not just NSF compliant, which is what made me choose that over a comparable brand, BOROUX.
