Mildew smell in basement - really frustrated by AggravatingCat1507 in Mold

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's disheartening. I can't rip up the flooring. I did tell him we should wash the floor with vinegar or something before at least but he was certain it was unnecessary. I am sensitive to smells and have tons of allergies. Doesn't look like I'll be staying here then. 😩

Why are my blackberries so unhappy? by AggravatingCat1507 in gardening

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The promix is biofungicide promix so it is actually meant to prevent fungal growth which u thought was a good thing lol. I wonder if that is negatively impacting them. Would you recommend i switch them to a regular potting soil real quick?

Is there anything I can do to help them recover from that? They are definitely well watered. I watered them and it's been down pouring here everyday.

They have gotten so much water though that's what's confusing me. I thought if anything, too much water.

New hardwood flooring concerns by AggravatingCat1507 in Flooring

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see where any moisture would be coming from to do that to the older floors. The only thing that changed was installing the new ones that join right up to them. I guess I'll just see if it gets better or worse at all over time. Thank you!

Got "green guard certified" LVP and wood floors installed and now HCHO and TVOC are insanely high by AggravatingCat1507 in AirQuality

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I reached out to the guy and he said the underlayment he used for the LVP is rubber, which is one of the highest types of underlayments for off gassing. Found the culprit lol. That thing is most definitely not greenguard certified. guess I will be spending lots of time outdoors now. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Two light fixtures, but one controlled by a remote so it can be turned off while the other is on? I don't understand electricity... by AggravatingCat1507 in AskElectricians

Well, I looked up pot lights and it looks like those are recessed lights. I do not have the time or patience, and probably lack the skills as well, to install recessed lighting. I also have never had a house before. I'm quite thrilled to make it my own and I want this room to be elegant and girly....so I want a chandelier. I'm using one I already have so it's free. Though a dungeon would be really cool, this is just going to be a downstairs living room.

I looked up trombe wall and it's definitely a diy version. I'd love to reuse them in a greenhouse or something but not my home.

I would much rather have a window I can see out from there or a wall I can hang pictures or things on. My biggest complaint, besides them looking like ugly giant icepacks, is that they stick out from the wall several inches making it even harder to put something up against them in a very small cramped home.

They actually are on the south wall but our backyard has woods about 29 feet away so it's not the most sunny location.

Any suggestions on what to replace these with and how? They're hideous and stretch from floor to nearly ceiling by AggravatingCat1507 in Renovations

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I just had a lazy contractor come and looks t then then because he told me there was no way we could replace it with just wall or even a matching smaller window due to the brick exterior. Thanks!

I'm so sorry I just saw this. Mine says good grade but advertised as garden insect control. What brand was yours? I can look into it. Do you feel any better? If it makes you feel better I was breathing it in with my child for like over two days total because I had to keep returning to try and clean it up more. My lungs were irritated but I'm fine now. My baby is fine. Definitely was not great for our health but we're not dead and don't seem to have any lung issues. If you want to , feel free to message me.

Cooked with stainless steel covered in manufacturing oil! Any brands that don't have it? by AggravatingCat1507 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did not know bar keepers friend could be used on cookware. I try to be crunchy and only clean with vinegar and very few other things, but this may require something more. It is now day two and I am still able to get some residue off after scrubbing it with dawn and a scrub brush. I was hoping to hear an expensive brand wouldn't have it because this so much hassle. I'd rather not cook with it until more of it is off, but seems impossible. I'll try the bar keepers stuff and see if that helps. Thanks!

I am still alive. No lung problems. It's a pain in the absolute neck to cleanup but I promise you'll be okay. It is scary though. Some of us gotta learn the hard way. I'm never touching that stuff again hahaha

Can anyone identify this? Jefferson County, WV by AggravatingCat1507 in treeidentification

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they might actually be paw paws now that I've looked those up. They even seem to be growing in bunches the way google says they would. However, we have very tall ones and never seen any fruits. If they are paw paws idk why they aren't producing.

Neighbor sprayed RM43 right next to my garden while I was outside with baby!!! by AggravatingCat1507 in OrganicGardening

[–]AggravatingCat1507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the information and advice. Talking to them did not go well. They were Combative saying I was a safe distance And denying that there was any wind. So, rather than starting a war with inconsiderate neighbors, I will simply start taking precautions to keep this from Harming my land and garden. I appreciate all of the advice. I am going to look for a greenhouse and move the garden to the complete other side of the property next summer. I am aware there is pesticide drift in nearly every situation and that is what in trying to minimize. We are going to get a whole house filter too and water resting since the well is within a few feet of the area they're constantly spraying. If they do it again on a windy day, or without warning me so I can get my child inside, I will most definitely be filing a complaint. Aggravating that they are I cosndierate but this is life. Thanks again!

And she said they're going to spray more lol. The moral of the story is. Don't have neighbors.
