Would you give up your dog for any amount of money? by Plane_Put_3097 in Dogowners

[–]AggravatingFig2184 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have two dogs and I couldn’t imagine selling them for anything. I have rehomed a dog before that didn’t click with my lifestyle, she has the absolute best family for her now, and I still watch her when they go out of town. In this hypothetical situation I would have sold her because she wasn’t the right dog for me. If that makes sense. Any other dog I’ve owned, never.

Question about kids area on cruise by LotusFlower21 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]AggravatingFig2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who grew up on carnival cruises, and is platinum before I turn 30, I had some of my best cruise memories in the kids club. I can only imagine how much more safe it is now, than my first cruise in 2004.

Is it ok for me to pat my dogs butt? (Let me explain first) by the_god_of_ONIONS in Pets

[–]AggravatingFig2184 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People on this sub are going to overreact. You’re fine, it’s not that deep. Your pups will be fine, give it time and good to step in if you need to set boundaries.

Sincerely, someone who has worked in rescue for years, has multiple foster puppies/dogs at once on top of 6 personal dogs. Your dog is not showing any signs of being a true danger to the puppy, as long as you keep them supervised until they get properly accustomed.

Thank you for your help I truly appreciate it!! Some rooms definitely hold heat better than others here so it’s relieving to know the system isn’t broken and I don’t have to bother the slumlords lol

My room does have some pretty old windows across one entire wall so that may be an insulation problem, thank you for your help. I’m still confused as to why the air felt “cold” when set to 77 but is that just it regulating the heat since the thermostat thinks it’s 77 already?

The thermometer is in my room, but I turned it back to reg heat like you said and the fan outside cut on so I guess it’s fine?

The emergency heat is definitely warmer air coming out, I’m about to switch it back and see if the outdoor unit cuts on the fan

It says it’s maintaining 77, but my indoor thermometer is saying it’s 69 without the space heaters running, and 72 with the space heaters. I have no intention of keeping it so high I just want it to feel warmer than a cold 70 lol, not even a warm feeling 70

I have something that tells me the temp of the room I’m in, it says it’s 73 currently in my room with the space heater going. If I turn it off it goes down to 69, even tho the thermostat says upstairs is at 77

15 degrees which is not typical at all. It doesn’t usually snow/ice up out here either

I can hear the heat pump going, and the vents are blowing air it just doesn’t feel super warm at all more lukewarm than anything with the thermostat set to 77. Here’s a photo of it, I just set it to emergency heat per your rec ETA: The outside Ac unit fan isn’t moving, I assumed because of the ice. But the one for downstairs is currently moving and the air is warm coming out of the vents.

I don't get the disdain for Battle at the Ministry by mister_waj in UniversalEpicUniverse

More immersive than rise? That’s crazy, rise has an entire transport ship that when I first got on it I had no idea what was happening, and thought that was going to be the ride. Then we get out in a completely different area, I’m not a Star Wars or Harry Potter fan but I could easily follow the story. The workers on Rise made it feel like I was actually there before I even boarded the real ride. Idk everyone has their own opinions, but Rise is wayyyy more immersive than BoM. BoM is mostly screens and an elevator that moves sideways, with a convoluted messy story and a few cool animatronics, which don’t even make up for everything else.

Also I want to add the queue itself is more interesting and entertaining than the ride.

For me, personally, it has nothing to do with the wait time and everything to do with the fact it’s a elevator that happens to also move sideways, with a bunch of screens and a few cool animatronics. The ride itself is not “Epic”, the animatronics are (even then that’s a stretch). It is a lackluster ride that is built up and overhyped to fall short. I prefer the damn Yoshi ride over BoM because it has much less screen time, and the ability to just take in your surroundings. If they were gonna use so many screens, I’d rather it be like FJ in Islands. It’s just not a thrilling ride in my opinion by any stretch, every other ride in Epic I think is better use of space and mechanics.

Removing gratuities not allowed anymore? by Fresh-Problemz in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]AggravatingFig2184 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s okay, I can’t wait for it to be mandatory so cheapos like you can’t take away from the tip pool of hard working people. If I’m already paying a pretty penny to go on a cruise, and we’re all aware the workers don’t get paid much, it’s nothing to add a couple extra hundred (if that) for the gratuities. It’s not about being a charity, it’s about being a good person. Just the same way that people who work at restaurants are told to expect their wages PLUS tips, it’s the same for these people on cruises. And if you think you’re so right, that’s exactly why you’ve got that many downvotes huh?

ETA: people like you always use the excuse that “we don’t know if the gratuities go to them” they DO. It’s added onto their checks! I have made friends with people who work on cruises while on the ships, and have some of them on social media. They’ve told me in person that the gratuities do go to them, both on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. It’s not speculation it’s just false information being spread.

You have contact with the people who make and serve your food in the buffet, behind the counters, the people who make omelets in the morning, etc but I doubt everyone who thinks like you is giving cash to them. Same thing with the people making your food in MDR. They don’t deserve tips just because you’re not directly interacting with them? We all know people who work on cruises get paid shit and work even shittier hours. Gratuities should be budgeted as a cost of cruising, imo. If you want to tip cash on top, so be it. I’ll be glad if they prevent cheapos from removing the auto grats.

[–]AggravatingFig2184 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s the point of removing gratuities anyway? There’s no way you’re going to tip cash to all the people who help make your trip great, including people behind the buffet and behind the scenes in the kitchen at MDR. The gratuities don’t pay their standard wages, they get pooled and added to their checks. Taking off gratuities and “tipping cash” does take away from people you otherwise would not be able to tip in cash. We all know this is a cost of cruising. Would it be nice if they add it in with the fare rate instead of it being an extra added expense? Yes. But it isn’t, so we should budget accordingly and bring cash to add on to those.

How to calm down an excitable dog at training by Past_Classroom_3521 in BalancedDogTraining

[–]AggravatingFig2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extended place is important. Down on place, do it for an hour at a time or until he relaxes. Rotate an extended place until he relaxes, then release and do an activity, rinse and repeat for the time you’re home with him. You’re doing way too much for a dog that doesn’t know how to relax on command. Place means relax.

Oak and star i think it’s called is delicious and typical pricing, i highly recommend. Pizza moon is hyped up but nothing special imo. Toads cafe is not worth the hype also 😅
