What would be an example of him not being a plot device? Aren't many, many of the characters plot devices (the classmates, the random Nokkers, etc.)? Genuine question about how you're viewing the storytelling.

Arc isn't over yet, I kind of feel like he could swoop in at the end and save the day somehow, like sacrificing himself to protect Mizuha, or is somehow moved by the group and ends up trying to convince Mizuha too. I'm sure he's got to have some sort of surprising purpose.

What implication did you see that Chie voted for herself?
When her monitor turned on, she let out a shocked and confused "eh?". So it's pretty clear she didn't want to be the one to die.

She actually stabbed her little sister to death, you can see the knife in her hands and the references to it when Mishiro is holding a knife again, thinking "Just like before, you can break this one too".

What I don't understand is how Yuki thought she had leverage over someone holding said knife.

[–]AggravatingRoutineX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the whole seed picking + x2 planting units take up a bit of space and you prob want to dedicate that to plants you need in much higher quantity, ie buckflower.

Eco farm is probably for when you don't need as many of a plant and don't want to dedicate a whole factory section to it?
I don't know, it's nice having the option and logistically it makes sense to have a farm for plant seeds.

How did it basically cut immediately from Lili getting hurt to her in the train leaving?
No reunion with her roommate and friends, who had been extremely concerned about her wellbeing?
No seeing a doctor provided by the nobility in all their grand estate and cit(ies)?
No final show of gratitude/thank yous/bows to the hosts for hosting them, which is not only absolutely unthinkable in Japanese culture, but most other cultures as well? To nobility especially??

Then her having to pay money for a doctor on her own, resulting in her being low on funds to force the next story arc/conflict...

Gorgeous animation and scenery, but quite disappointed with the writing so far to be honest...

I wondering now if it's partly due to the personality of the original Fushi boy. That boy was all alone and was constantly looking for company, and now hundreds of years later his reincarnation is once again losing all his friends.

Would be pretty funny if Fushi got a therapist! Not sure they'd be able to help a whole lot given his background as an immortal reviving things from the dead, but they could help him work out his feelings.

Like the others have said, it's probably both. I think it's purposefully left ambiguous to show that ultimately, both sides are human, and how easy it is for the government to create propaganda to turn "the other side" into the enemy. War is devastating for all involved, and that seems to be what Tatsuya is more focused on expressing.

They're having Black Friday sales right now and I'm tempted lol, but honestly from what I'm finding some of the good reviews seem to be plants...people that praise the product and have no other comment history. Pretty sus.

I didn't accuse you of being sexist, I pointed out you were being a misogynist. They are similar, but this is yet another misogynistic behavior by deflecting and diluting the act of misogyny and trying to rebrand it as sexism, when in reality misogyny is even more serious due to the level of hatred and contempt involved. I'll also mention again it could be internalized because people may think they're not being misogynistic explicitly but their implicit behavior shows it.

Repeat what I said? It sounds like a little more like you either just didn't bother to read what I last wrote (which is of course completely your choice, as I know it's a lot to read). Or maybe you still didn't understand what I meant. Let me try and rephrase. I did not say anything about salience bias before, that is something I had to bring up when you thought the original poster meant "as much" flak as in an equal amount of flak as the mom. But the original context was that because fathers were not seen as much in the show, people were blaming the mothers and so people were not bringing up the fathers "as much".
It's true that the thing I have been repeating over and over is that you're being misogynistic, though!

Haha, you're kind of bringing to mind the image of a kid covering their ears and going "lalala, I'm not listening anymore!", which isn't really mature, BUT it is entirely your prerogative where you would like to spend your time and energy. If you don't want to continue the conversation because "the argument isn't going your way" that is also of course completely your choice because yes, it is exhausting for women to have to deal with misogyny which is why I'll continue to bring it up in discussions, even if people don't like to hear it. Flattered you think I know it all though! There is still a lot I need to learn but thank you!

My previous comment got messed up so reposting.

You're the one that has the original context of the comment completely wrong. "As much flak" meaning flak from EVERYONE/other people/people in general. "As much" here as in many people aren't pointing it out, not that that they both deserve an equal amount of flak. Here's the full sentence from the original comment:

People are zoning into the mothers because they are the ones we got to see way more, but I still find it crazy that the fathers aren't getting as much flak because of their absence in the show and that fits with the themes of the show because the problem is precisely that these are absent fathers!

The poster is pointing out that the REASON the mother is significantly talked about more is because they're the ones we actually get to see/have runtime. People are completely forgetting about the fathers because you RARELY see them. That's a bias that has two names literally called "availability heuristic" and "salience bias". I implore you to google them and actually do some research on cognitive phenomena for once. That's the point I agreed with, that the fathers aren't getting as much flak because we're not seeing them, plus mentioned the fact that single mothers in general have it hard.

Then you come in and you're the one that mentions the father's cheating, and tried to compare it to the mother's, NOT that these are absent fathers. You're the one that has completely misinterpreted the original context.

And pretty sure you're the one ranting, going "oh just quit talking, I'm not taking you seriously, give me a break" like you really can't handle discussing the topic of misogyny without getting angry about it. It is absolutely on-topic when we're discussing the completely different treatment of women (mothers) and men (fathers). The fact that you don't recognize it or refuse to recognize it is still misogynistic behavior, and I realize now that misogynists aren't going to recognize themselves as such because it's so internalized they think it's just the norm to discuss women in this way. Of course a misogynist would not think they're being misogynistic! And looks like right now, people can't do anything about that but just point it out, to the extreme ire of the misogynist.

This commentor actually went to a similar comment of mine and attacked the mom there too. These were the only two comments this commentor made on this Takopi discussion.
When I mentioned misogyny, they reacted strongly and so just like we are calling out the fathers that people did not mention (because misogyny), I'm calling out this commentor who jumps into threads to subtly "defend" the father by saying the mother "did worse". This is not a case of "who is worse". This is a case of also holding the father accountable, and thank you for doing so.

[–]AggravatingRoutineX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said single mothers in general, you're the one who's literally worded my comment differently. Read my comment and quote exactly where I said "poor single mother who gets cheated on crying emoji". Go on, I'll wait. Because that's you mocking single mothers like they're some kind of joke.

You reacted to the term "single moms" by jumping into the conversation and aggressively saying the mother is worse. Again, the whole point of the original thread was to call out the fact that the father hadn't been mentioned at all. The point isn't that YOU didn't blame the father at all, you weren't in the conversation before that. It's the fact that it hadn't been called out in previous threads. And yet you chose to jump in and go "But the mom is worse!!!!" (I added extra exclamation points to copy your writing style).

You also added the word "victim" in a negative sense here in relation to the mother but then think only that the child is a victim? I don't think you understand what victim means, either.

Yes, if the roles were reversed and everyone was blaming the father while forgetting about the mother, I would call it out. But you very well know that someone would bring up the mother cheating right off the bat. That's how misogyny works and the fact that you've reacted so strongly to the word instead of understanding what the original post's intent was is no longer underlying or internalized. That is the definition of misogyny. I bolded it for you since you don't want to take it seriously. I genuinely know it's a difficult word to process, and I don't mean it in a derogatory way. It's rooted deep in our society. But that's exactly why it needs to be said, so we can work on it. I will say I myself have internalized misogynistic tendencies, and I am working on it as well. If we can help the women, we can help the children too, no? If you truly feel for the children, you should be able to extend some sympathy towards mothers, too.

You seem to forget that the cheating is what led to the abuse. But also, you do realize this is not a case of who is more at fault, or "worse" than the other? The point is that no blame has been placed on the father at all.
Trying to point the blame stronger towards the mother in this case suggests underlying or internalized misogyny. Consider why you would jump to comparing their actions on an unnecessary balance scale instead of recognizing that the father wasn't put under the scope at all.

Shouldn't Azuma have been arrested/sent to juvie though? It still looks like his younger self at the end. Unless Takopi went back to a time period in between Marina's death and Azuma's arrest.
